Have any of you tried Carl's Jr yet?

Carl's Jr US

I have, and am a big fan. This is a chain which originated in the States in 1941, and has now made its way over to Thailand. I had never heard of it until it popped up here.

The burgers are a cut above the ones you get at McDonalds and Burger King. They are juicy and apparently made with 100% Australian beef.

I think they are aimed at adults that enjoy a tasty burger more than being another place to placate the kids.
There are no happy meals or paper hats and no sinister noncey clown hanging around - unless you go to the one in Pattaya, in which case there may be a few clowns that fit the bill.

The ice cream shakes are fantastically thick, and you can buy a beer there to enjoy with your meal.

You place your order at the counter and the burgers are prepared and taken to your table. When you finish, the wrapper will be swimming in meat juices, which is a big difference to McD's or BK which often have burgers sitting around for a while.

The chicken tenders are made of what appears to be actual chicken pieces, and are a damn site better than the mechanically retrieved, mashed and shaped nuggets you get elsewhere.

I recommend "The Big Carl", and the chilli cheese fries washed down with a Heineken.
The jalapeno burger is also badass.

As i said, there is one in Central Pattaya and i believe there are a few in Bangkok including one at Mega Bangna.
