    Border Collies

Anybody know of anywhere to buy BC's here in Los.

I promised my kids a dog when we moved to the mountains and as I owned a BC for 18 years, they are great dogs, so would like to get one for the kids.

I found one breeder, still to get in touch though.

BC-Lovers Kennel **** The first Border Collie breeder in Thailand ****
I like poisoning my neighbours dogs till they die cos I'm a cnut

I like the Border Collie, a great working dog and loyalty to owner second to none. As you say totally unsuitable for Bangkok.
I was in Shenzhen China recently and visited a dog show with some friends, the selection of pups available was amazing. Some breeders having brought their dogs and bitches from Europe, athough I still think there are a lot of breeding farms
I saw some rough collies at the show from a very reputable breeder in the south of England but the pups were for sale for 5200 RMB for dogs and 5500 RMB for bitches. Not that this helps you much.
Best of luck in finding the Collie, let me know if you find one I could be interested also as I live up country.

if you don't want to pay. Consider rescuing a soi dog from NR. That will defo put you in good moral grounds.

Gee Nawty, I don't know your situation there, but I hope you know what you are getting yourself into. They are not really adapted to LOS unless it is in the very high country. Even then, they would be in distress in the hot times. They are a high energy machine and need a job. Personally I would go for a Kelpies, but then there are many soi dogs with the same attributes that would make great mates.

Don't like mongrel soi dogs...sorry NR.

    I think i know a little about BC's, I had one for 18 years.

Also the hot climate is a little incorrect.....I had my dog in the NT for many years and she was fine, they adapt and if it is a puppy groing up here, they adapt.

The humidity here is the difference though.

We will be living in a cooler climate at Khao Yai, so somewhat more suitable.

High energy yes, that is why she will be free run about, none of my dogs have ever been chained, none have ever even had a leash.

With the correct temprament, they cannot be beat in my opinion for a family dog as well and great with kids.

When we moved here 6 years ago, we brought our little dog with us. Someone stole it unfortunately and I think basted it in chilli sauce and roasted her.

Anyway, bringing her here from Oz was not to bad, the problem was getting her out of customs when she arrived, we had to send seperately from our flight. Customs were cnuts basically and threatened to leave her in a hot box in a hot shed with no water unless we paid what they wanted.....ever felt like bashing some cnuts...it is here.

I have known some people to bring their dogs here from US on holiday, I believe it was just excess baggage and they were collected via the normal baggage routes, not customs. I want to find out this option.

I would like to get a baby kangaroo also....my son wants one. My daughter wants a koala, but you have to draw the line somewhere.

If thats the case I might bring one from China!! I will have to make sure first though as I don,t trust Thai Customs and Immigration concerning bringing anything into this country.

I saw one in a pet shop in Chinatown, KL last week. The poor thing was 6 months old and kept in a cage and (being a highly active working dog) was going crazy smashing its head against the side of the cage trying to get out. Please go and buy it!

Well Khao Yai is another thing Nawty. What a great climate. If you have lots of room and something for the dog to do, then it would be ideal. Good luck finding one. Check some of the breeders here in Australia.

Although, I reckon there are heaps of beautiful souls out there in Thailand just waiting for the opportunity to run free.

Plenty of beautiful souls here. But i don't do that any more, leave that to the aldulterers to my left and to my right.

Khao Yai is nice and cool, plus the property has a pond she can jump in whenever the desire hits her to cool down.

My BC of 18 years used to body surf...or doggy surf, she could duck dive underwater a little, she would fall asleep on my motorbike, jumped out of a rolling 4wd before I did, rode in a helicopter without getting scared of heights, won a high jump competition, swam a croc infested river by accident, protected me from a poof on a beach I was camped on one night and was an all around great companion.

So looking forward to hopefully getting another one for my kids.

I have a 7 year old border collie I brought from the Uk two years ago. A wonderful dog who is both loved and loving.
My marital situation means that I need to find a good home for him.
He was neutered as we also have an older alsatian bitch.
The best dog in the world and unfortuately free to a good home. PM me if interested.
