    Using a weed eater safely

Some Thai workers do believe in safety while working in the yard.

The real reason? It was hot outside and the helmet kept her head cooler.

Doesn't that just depend on wether you're using wire or a disk. Interchangeable on many models.

I have a weed eater from the states where peoples lawns are manicured and a quick zip around the edges trims up the growth and puts everything in order.

It wasn't built for the tangled mess of rural Thailand where the shit doubles in strength and volume weekly. The extendable plastic/nylon cutting string is absolutely useless here. My BiL fitted a double-edged steel blade awhile back.

It's a major accident waiting to happen.

    Stay tuned.

I just bought a fine weed whacker machine made by Makita. It's got about a 10" diameter blade which will whack some big bad weeds.
It came with a harness which required a degree in engineering to figure out though

They are dangerous things. Managed to shatter a double glazed patio door from about 20 feet away last week. Caught a stone with it, and woomph.

Even I, not the most saftey concious, wear protective googles when using them.
