My wife and I have been talking for some time about looking after a dog, but for several years we have been in a small condo in a high rise building.
Now, while still in an apartment type setting, we have a much larger place, ground floor, with about 40sqm private courtyard area outside.
I work close enough from our place to be able to pop back at lunch for walks and food, so he wouldn't be left on his own for too long.
Can anyone suggest a breed of dog that would be well fit for this sort of lifestyle. It'll have plenty of exercise, though no endless fields to bound on its own. It'll get plenty of attention, but will be on its own for maybe 4 hours at a time, sometimes more. Am I being unfair on the dog? I know lots of people that leave their dogs at home all day while at work, but not sure how such long absences would effect a pup.
Any advice?
