Many birds dress up in their best during the breeding season to attract a mate. One is the Pheasant-tailed Jacana.
Non breeding plumage.

Olive-backed Sunbird, which was just across the road from our house was a nice find. A bit of a challenge to snap as well and I've decided I need at least twice the 450mm zoom I have to take decent pictures of birds.
Asian Emerald Cuckoo (male) with breakfast.
^^ Yes, I was thinking of an extender, but still expensive. I will have to go hunting around for second hand equipment.
Some birds for you to identify...
Two pictures of the same bird, which I think is one of the leaf warblers. The second picture was taken while the bird was in a brief hover with wings flapping like crazy (shutter speed was 1/1000 s). Any idea which leaf warbler?
Another picture that really needed a better zoom but I think this is a Common Iora.
..and one that is common in our garden but I can't think what it is
The first I will have to look up but as I have just moved to a new house and have no internet and am at the local library without my books it will have to wait. It s possibly one of the Warblers as is second, cant tell which from that photo.
The third is a Common Lora and the forth an Eastern or Siberian Stonechat
Have a look at this site Oriental Bird Club Image Database : Welcome you do have to know where to start but I use it quite a lot.
From me today Black Baza.
^ Nice. Out of greens.
Yes, well done...I fired a tracer over his bow, misskit...

Asian Fairy Bluebird.

Great photo's birding,, what camera and lens do you use ??
I just use bridge cameras a Canon SX60HS and a Canon SX50HS for 2 reasons, weight and cost.
I mostly walk around in forests and the less weight I have to carry the better.
I am also rough on gear and these cost a tenth or less than a good DSLR and long lens so if I break one I dont break the bank replacing it.
White-crested Laughing thrush.
Great stuff birding. Wish I had the talent and patience to do it.
