^ I love those big yellow flowers, but they fall off the trees so easily.
^^Very nice, prawnograph. Yellow flowers are a beauty.
I found my hard drive with all my Thai pics.
Went to an orchid type farm in Chiang Mai.
Maybe Thailand..
A few months ago my wife was given a water plant for one of our fish bowls. I planted it in a pot of clay as instructed and eventually it appeared to die, but soon shot up with a pleasing leafy foliage. Then the flower stalks came. Very curious flowers. The stalk grows quite long with several clusters of buds, then day to day a bud will bloom as shown below. The flowers start blooming before sunrise and by 9 am are fully opened, but by 3 pm they shrivel to nothing. They don't open again, that's it for any individual blossom.
If anyone knows what these are, I'd appreciate knowing. The flowers are about 3cm diameter and have a faint and pleasing aroma. I'm intrigued by them because the individual flowers only have a lifespan of 7 or so hours.
