    Durian tree

I m starting to like durians since a year now and willing to plant a (cocktail)tree.

Which variety of durian do you like the most?

I like the durianchips the most but have no idea which variety is used to make them.

I want to make a duriantree with many different durians on it and it should stay small like 3-4 metres.

After how many years can i expect fruits on that tree if i buy me a grafted tree?

    Has anybody an idea?

A grafted tree should fruit much faster then 9 years. I 'm not going to wait 9 years to see any fruits developing.

And king Wily should stop drinking i guess, he is full of s**t in all his reply's.

Young Durian-tree's cannot stand full sun and need a lot of water and good soil.

So keep them in partial shade the first years. They can fruit after 4 years for grafted tree's..

nonthaburi is known for its duiran orchards, the Gaan Yao variety can fetch 4,000-6,000 bht per fruit. many trees did not survive the floods two years ago, and framers said the trees need at least 15 years to start giving good quality fruits

Grafted durians stay smaller and can fruit when like 3-4 metres high. I have seen pics of them. New durian orchards are also that size.

We have a Durian farm down south and do quite well out of it. They do grow to be very big trees and take over 7 to 10 years to provide fruit. The main strain of fruit grown in Thailand is Montong but their are many varieties . But it takes a lot of money time and luck to farm but very worth while.
