Thorny bushes and other plants that can be used as natural fences?

Im looking for some plants that go well with the barbwire fence we have around part of our land.

Any recommendations for plants that are literally pain in the ass to pass through?

Sorry, I don't know the name of it but there's a native plant in Thailand which is literally like razor wire, it has serrations and each serration is capable of cutting flesh.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable may come in and tell you what it's called.

    EDIt:

After a quick google, I think what I'm talking about may be some form of AGave. something like this:

If not that, it's some other similar succulent with razor sharp edges.

Bouganvillea plants are quick growing and fairly inexpensive to purchase in Thailand. They have showy flowers and also thorned branches so not only provide a deterent to would-be trespassers but also a great floral display.

Bouganvillea is lethal and does look good. The downside is that you're forever trimming it.
I just had my hedge of 8 years dug out and the walls raised instead.

Thanks, do they need a structure to climb (as they are vines) or are they freestanding?

    They'll go wherever they want!
You can buy them as lovely little bushes (Ah! Bless) You'll regret the moment you laid eyes on them.

I've seen nice ones made from Tamarind trees, they even sell them to plant for that use, just a small branch made as seedlings planted 6 inches apart or so, don't need much trimming.

Your Mrs will know it called macaam in Thai.

    Yep....that would be my choice.
Once established, grows madly and can be shaped in no time.

Rather fortunate that Scottish gorse doesn't do well in true tropical climates....as it would be a over-run killer - see what such botanical introductions have done to NZ!

Obviously plants increase the beauty of any location especially it enhances the beauty of the home. Currently I am using Cirrhopetalum lepidum flower and orchid in my house Which give my place a fascinating view.

    That's a good idea. Here's a pic of one:

Mulberry grows pretty quickly so you could probably use that but if you've got cows wandering around nearby there's a good chance that they'll eat the lot.

Being Australian I thought the flashy show of colour, lazy tumbling appearance and prick(ly) habit entitles the young layabout guys here to be named "Bogan Villagers". Actually I thought burning them out would be easier than rooting them out. Electric hedge clippers would be a bit messy.
