you are so wrong mate, all my cane is in rice field,
yes they can live in the wet land/ they are planted just after rice harvest the land is moist, but not soaking as you cannot get the tractor in, they shoot from the ground vary fast and before the land is dried out completely they stand by my knee height, once the rain comes back add a whole load of fertilizer or pig shit as i personally do, free from my pigs, and a bit of nitrogen that is it,
weeding i do it with my tractor, the whole of it, cutting no, i sell it to some fellas that go around during the raining season looking for cane and we do a deal,
they will burn and cut and transport, so for me all it is is planting with my tractor, fertilizing with my already owed shit, and weeding with my own tractor, have 10 new rai planted two month ago, cost 35.000 to plant and another 5 in nitrogen soon, max 40.000 expect 13.000 min per rai
it's not a lot of money as you know but they way i look at it if i can double my cash even if is just 10baht i will go for it.
RUBBER yes i have 10 rai, little to live off to be honest, but i have tapped about 60%trees last year, and this year i cant be bothered to do it, can't get anyone to do it for me, full of cobras, fox
and ghosts on eye of the Thais (not mine) mosquitoes and all kinds of insects,
thinking about sugar instead but, they are massive trees now not a bush, and i have spent a lot in fertilizer not to mention weeding trimming and god knows what more, so we will see.
