    The Second Bangkok TD Meeting

Seeing I wrote the report on the first meeting...though it was appropriate that I start the thread on the second Bkk Meet...

    Wow!!...great turn-out...

to be honest i almost didn't go because of the constant nastiness of a couple of posters...happily they didn't show even though they indicated in MtDs poll that they would be there...

as a result it was a great night...I'm posting early cause I have to work in the AM...

    recollections...

excellent venue..great parking...attentive service...cold beer - in big bottles if you wanted - thank you Marmers for your efforts...

good to see those from afar...esp 'Thai wife' & 'partner"(!)...long flight but your presence was appreciated...

noteable absences included whitshiva who fronted on Friday night but was grounded tonight...and BH who was in Bangers but never made it to either Fri or Sat do...WTF were you up to?...

The resident DJ arrived complete with a backpack full of CDs and the trademark bottle of water...stayed for ten and disappeared...

KenMay has been reading the instructions in the Muff-diving thread and also disappeared early in pursuit of kiwi nubility...Ken..you owe everyone 500 baht if you didn't score...if you did we need PHOTOS!...

more when I think of it...or as other TDers might like to add...

Yes, "excellent venue..great parking...attentive service...cold beer" but you can get that anytime. What actually happened there, people/ chat / activity wise?

Curious George (great to see the pair of you)
    Thai Wife (as above)
    GoW
Lily (The surgery was a complete success!)
    Torbers (cheer up old chap)
    DJPat!!! (just in the area)
Random Chances (tall for a welshy)
    Roc (more rabbit than Sainsburys)
Ken May + 3 (including his next diving partner)
    DrAndy + missus
    Stroller (good effort mate)
    Dougal (surprise star guest)
    Ghost of the Moog
Jon (Thanks for a good few days in Ayu)
    Blake7 (Have a good trip)

Strangely, there was a lot of talk about cattle. I always thought the Welsh were a bunch of sheep shaggers, but they're obviously diversifying nowadays.

Sorry, I guess I'm just to shy to show up at such a gathering. I actually made it to Suan Lum Friday night, but couldn't make myself call MtD to find out where they were sitting. So, I dined alone and went out for about a zillion beers. I actually ran into Dougal at one point, but I'll let him say when and where if he likes.

Since I didn't make it Friday I decided to abandon any thought of showing up Saturday night so I just got on a bus and went home to Korat where I had my usual happy hour on the front porch.

Sadly, the older I get the worse the shyness problem becomes. I can't believe I wasted all that time and money and didn't even make it to either party.

I am surprised The Ghost of the Moog made it there, he is always complaining about the TD morons and how TV is always better.

Don't apologize, I find those meetup extremly odds. I did make a few and got lucky that I met some "interesting" and "colorful" individuals. Online socialization is still a strange thing, and frankly not as interesting as meeting real people under other circumstances. I guess, it feels too artificial to be of any real value.

    Agreed.

Last night was first time I have met 'en masse' a group of people I have interacted with on the internet.

I found it somewhat odd and occasionally even a little uncomfortable...

You know the sort thing. Awkward silences as you each realise neither of you are anything like your expectations and not really knowing where to go from there...or even if you want to.

Bit like a bizarre kind of blind dating...

Absolutely, you nailed it, a blind date, with the disappointment and the revelation. Some posters are totally the opposite from what they are online. Some are as fuzzy as they are online.

Someone here has mentioned that I am a bigger "twat" than I am already online. I can confirm it that I am indeed and proud to be Of course they will never tell you that during the meet-up. Which makes the whole thing odd and even more dramatic

PS: Meeting Stroll tonight or tomorrow

After the Chiang Maii meet-up I decided Teakdoor-members were a pretty weird bunch of old fucks and never to go out of my way to meet any of them again.

But since I happened to be in the area, I popped in to say hello - this time it was an even more unlikely mix of characters who I am convinced were paid by someone to act odd just to confuse me.
William was a surprise, not an old geezer in a suit & tie at all, by contrast a white-hairedDr. Andy was radiating the aura of a retired ambassador.

Noone got into fist fights, though William announced only Germans could be so anal when I complained my pint-glass wasn't full, and various of the low-lives present kept asking the Welshman for fotos of his fav cow.

Who got the most pissed? It was a close match between Hillbilly and Random Chances, but my perception was getting rather fuzzy at the end of the night, which was around 4am when I decided I was in no state to make a sensible choice between the scantily dressed acquaintances I made while exploring the area.

There were a few of us who had a drink in a S Cowboy go-go bar until it closed. I don't usually frequent these sort of places - was just being social and looking after the others who were rather intoxicated by then, making sure DD didn't drop his take-away (the lucky sod got the last kebab before the stall ran out of the stuff) while fondling the dancers' anatomy at the same tim; pulling Hillbilly away from the girls' changing room and so on... You get the idea.

Can't remember how I got home, I think I must have taken a taxi.

I was there and it was fun, I met up with wally at his place for a great sunset and we were off on motorcycles to the Old Dutch. It was nice to meet so many people, Hillbilly and I had a good talk, Budthai and his Thai Wife were great, Stroller was nice to meet as well as Dougal. Dr. Andy is a true gentleman and has a lovely wife.
Had a nice hug and a kiss from Lily who is about as lovely as you can meet. Finally got the chance to meet Pat as well. What an accent on that guy.

William was there and we had a nice chat about what we always chat about. Really enjoyed meeting DD, and of course our host Marmite and the always lovely GOW.
Jon, Random Chances, and Roc were also hell of nice guys. I didnt get to meet torbeck, as I had to get home fairly early for they kids footy game at 8:30 which they won 4-3.
A Damn nice night and I shall be looking forward to the next one.

I already posted this when I saw this new posting

    so here it is again......

well, it was nice to see so many faces which made no sense to me

people introducing themselves by their real names, left me totally mystified

having said that, I did manage to talk to a few nice people

GoW is nicer than possible, Marmite does not deserve her, but he is a nice guy too. AO is also very civilised

I was directed to Baccarat by Marmite, as the best in Cowboy (so he has been told, honest GoW). It was OK but we found that Midnite bar was much raunchier and less crowded

    lots of nice bottoms!

hope to meet you all again
    I have reported your post

Missed out on it this time even though I actually managed to go to the Old Dutch, but late (2300 or so) so it was empty almost - I presume the party scattered out in the street before that? Cheers!

Sorry Stroll and RC, I just could not go. Came back from China the night before and well, leaving the next evening was a bit difficult.
And it has nothing to do with the fact that I do not really want to meet all the dogs roaming here...

    BH

That is the sort of thing I would do.

Go to the bar look at people and think I'm to shy to talk to them so walk out and leave without them noticing.

You all looked like you were having a good time though
