Sheikh Ahmad Qomi was an Iranian {Persian} who moved to Siam in 1605 at the age of 62, living here for some 26 years before his death. A merchant {with connections} and religious figure, his wonderous manner brought him the distinction of cultural attache for relations between Persia and Siam. So brought a small Persian community that had relative influence on Siamese architecture styles and the ear of King Narai. At one short period during this era, there were 21 Mosques in and around Ayutthaya melding easily with Siamese Buddists. Qomi was also credited with influencing and advancing Islam into a great deal of SE Asia as well as some sectors of East Asia.
A diplomatic mission conducted in behalf of Prussia and the German Customs Union from 1859-62, establishing commercial relations with Siam {primarily, China, and Japan.
