You have driven me nuts since Post #865. I remember that bar and for the life of me I cannot remember it's name. Anybody out there have any idea? I am not even sure it was in Cowboy.

Actually it was Patpong. The name you're looking for is the "Grand Prix Bar". Opened in 1968 by an ex-Air America employee, where it survived until just recently {closed}. One of the first owned bars by a foreigner in that area. Famous for its eclectic clientele - servicemen/GIs; expats; war correspondents; mercenaries; private contractors; Air-America employees; spooks and intell people; etc....BKK was a very interesting place to be during the American wars in the region. The 'adult entertainment' areas grew from Patpong to Nana, from Cowboy to Klong Toey and eventually to Pattaya.

RS. Thanks so much. I actually thought it was the Grand Prix, which by chance was the first bar I ever set foot in, in Thailand. What made me think it was the GP was what looked like a picture of Rick Maynard (SP) on the wall with a boxer. Seem to recall he had several of them, and used to be the "vegas bookie" in town before he sold up and moved there. Cheers
