I don't read the forum everyday and had no idea he was in Aviemore or was even going that way. Hopefully you'll accept my sincerest apologies for not reading every post on every thread every day.

Yep. Next time slap should just pm you two months in advance on the off chance you have relatives in some of the areas he is passing through.

I know you're not very bright, but where 'my' distillery is, is not where he'll be passing through unless he decides to take a large detour from what I presume is his chosen route from Aviemore to Inverness, a detour I would recommend though if one hasn't been to that part of the country before, as opposed to going straight up to Inverness, take the A95 through the national park to Aberlour which he will encounter spectacular scenery then up to Elgin and then along to Inverness, anyway Willy now you know to pm me 2 months in advance so I can lay on a special welcome party for you.

No idea which way you are going when get out of Aviemore but presumably you will be following the A9 up to Inverness but you have a choice just North of Aviemtore you can either fork left and take the A9 up to Inverness or bear right and take the A95 which will take you through Speyside and the Cairngorms national park and all the distillery's you will encounter makes it worth while as you get a free tour and dram to keep you going.
My parents had a home in Carrbridge. I remember the landmark centre. And climbing up the big tower to look oveer the whole place. Magical.

Find a photo of the bridge in Carrbridge.

Sorry. i shall say magical again. That part of Scotland is.

    And the big horse....

I would go through Speyside. For the absolute beauty of the countryside, and the people will be great too.

Did you see the salmon jumping up river in Pitlochry, that is a sight to see.

    How are the midgees-

Have you caught a real haggis yet? The one that runs around the mountain with odd legs. And a beak and very colourful plumage.
    They do attack.

Can smell English blood for miles and miles. and more.

    You think?

I don't see how slaps would or could know where all the different TD folk and possibly he able to PM them his route months in advance on the off chance that they have relatives nearby and could put him up for a night. Rather Slaps posted his trip up, interested parties are free to give advice and or offer a drink/meal/bed or farmers daughter for the night if they can.

BB making a comment that he needed some notice to arrange anything is nowt but a time waster since Slaps obviously didn't know and couldn't tell him. The comment really was a useless plug to let us know his family have a distillery, since he was never going to actually have to provide a bed at all. Ooh wow. I'm impressed BB. Must be part and parcel of being 'from good stock'.

    Great progress.

However, i am mightilly feared that the last photo we will ever see of Slapper will be a selfie, face down in the mud, surrounded by a bunch of skirted red bearded men waiting eagerly to have their cabers tossed.

    Whilst singing "deflower of Scotland".

She's just hired because she's ginger and can drive the tour bus.

You lot have bastardised the pronunciation of the word 'ginger'. All we can really say is that there are no 'J' sounds. It's not 'jinjer' so please quit that shit.

Actually, one of the most popular pies in Scotland is the Forfar Bridie, which is frequently made with puff pastry.
He wasn't in Forfar was he? He was in Fife. Where the pies are not made with puff pastry. Unless he asked for one.
Actually Pats, the origins of bridies was Forfar, and normally referred to throughout Scotland as Forfar Bridies, or just bridies. Ironically, Forfar is the only place that make bridies only with short crust pastry. The remainder of Scotland they're usually puff/flaky pastry.

I lived in Angus for 15 years, 5 of which were just outside Forfar (Letham, Angus).

This is quite possibly one the best ever threads on TD by the way.

I'll +1 it for being moved into 'Famous Threads'*

Probably want to get yourself as far north of Inverness as possible tomorrow, to leave yourself a relatively easy last day, especially if you'll be back tracking after J O'G to somewhere like Wick or Thurso.

If I had my way I would've been out of this b&b by now, but the landlady doesn't dish up breakie until 8.30. Still, I intend to cycle as far as possible today and make tomorrow an easy one... I'm basically going to point the bike in the direction of Thurso and let rip.
