The bad finger's a part of foodies, I assume.
The bad finger's a part of foodies, I assume.
Stop repeating yourself Macha.
Anyway here is a nice meal I had in Sri Racha, this on the piers, ie it's probably an illegal building built over the sea, now this was for three of us so there was like 5 dishes, yep the whole lot just over 300baht with me beer
Anyway rushing onto this evenings meal, yep I hit soi thepasit, yet another Thai sea food place, this place is about 100 meters up from the main road, it is tackily done out in some tiles that only a Thai would choose, I really can't understand why the Thais have absolutely no class at all, but anyway the food is good
I mean just look at all this lot for a mere 410baht including me beer.
Thats my belly there anyway as you can see most of the customers are chinks from BKK, now I'm not saying that they are all cnuts, just most of them, but as you can see we got the old tom yum krung, and some hoy lie, and some other dish, yeah I know I started the hoy lie before they got their meals, but fok me I was hungry...
Yes time to expose there foking lack of taste in tiling their floor, this may upset some posters so it's best you don't look how tacky they can be...
Bad news I'm afraid, the dish on the far right was off, now luckily I didn't eat any of this so the news isn't that bad, But me galfriend puked up most of it last night, yep, it was some dodgy fish dish, anyway if you get a fish dish that looks like this beware...
Of course another way to eat cheap and good is the old guys and gals that carry round the "boiled eggs"? I don't think they are boiled but slowly heated in sand, but I could be completely wrong, I have to admit I did use to like this stuff even though I really don't like eggs, I think what put me off is that a 3 minute boiled egg here is just a slimey uncooked egg that nobody in their right mind would eat, well apart from body builders that eat 20 raw eggs perday.
Anyway here is one of those nice people that carry round the eggs for sale, although I might add he wasn't actually there as he was in the restaurant getting some proper food and left his offerings outside, when I first saw it there was about 10 chickens probably with bird flu pecking away at it all, I got to take the picture as he chased away most of the chickens, anyway don't worry as bird flu isn't that fatal, and even if it is you won't notice cos you will be dead.
And of course this thread would be nothing without the old bbq stands and trolleys, now I got to admit in my early days here I really had had enough of the old fried rice, I mean the oil was absolutely disgusting, so for about a year I would just eat from the old bbq stands, it was like going to a party every night, obviously in them days they didn't have plastic in Thailand, well I assume they didn't cos the meat was open to the flies and dust and smog and dirt etc, but hell it didn't kill me and the days you spent on the bog were non drinking days so it's probably good for your liver and kidneys and that, although pissing out of your ass aint much fun.
But nowadays it all seems quite hygenic, well actually you probably build up a resistance to the bacteria.
Yep the good old days, I lived in a 1,600baht per month squalid apartment on soi yamato, I had to buy my own sheets and that, so I sent a thai friend to go and buy them and was quite shocked at how much fitted sheets cost here, I lived across from a bar that had a live band, at that time bars could run all night, every foking night they played the same stuff, if I hear "another brick in the wall" again I will kill ppl, I believe this was when my drinking problem started, anyway here is a nice picture of a Thai chicken stall.
It's not "boiled eggs", they cook them by grill, we call "grilled eggs"Of course another way to eat cheap and good is the old guys and gals that carry round the "boiled eggs"? I don't think they are boiled but slowly heated in sand, but I could be completely wrong
Nowaday, if they grill them, it will take long time to be done then they boiled them first then grill them a bit more. You are right also, DD.
Well I have never seen a grill in Thailand, a grill is wot us whiteys would cook our toast on oh and bacon if they were worried about being fat.

whatever. :?
They're barbequed eggs.
In a grill, the heat is above the food, Goddess.
ops:
Stupid me (again)
while were off topic, thanks to GOW, Ill take this opportunity to ask about bedding. You said you had a surprise DD? why? price?
I will want to get me-self some black silk bedding...how much will i be looking at?! Im not fussy, fake silk is ok with me lol
GoW, if you were speaking German it would be alright as the german word "Grill" means barbeque. (The verb is "grillen": ich grille, du grillst, er grillt, wir grillen. So much for todays lesson in german.)
Though we have the other meaning for the oven as well.
I wonder why but I have never had any problems with that unhygienic barbequed stuff.
You'd be better buying the silk from a silk shop in Chinatown and having them made. Most silk bedding you see here are 'bed-throws' rather than sheets. 2ply thai silk goes for under 200B a metre.I will want to get me-self some black silk bedding...how much will i be looking at?! Im not fussy, fake silk is ok with me lol
Also, while black is cool, you will see every single stain imaginable (believe me, I know). The only stain you won't see is Guinness!
Hmmmm, getting back on topic, today I decided to check on the land as I aint been there for a few days, only had 2 guys working there this week and I believe they have broken all records on slowness of completion of work, well that bit isn't on topic of course, but I am leading back to the topic now Anyway coming back from the land it started raining, my windscreen wipers stopped working yesterday and I had forgotten about that, so I decided to stop at a nice thai shack for some sustainance, this place is on soi chaipook2 I believe, it is always quite busy and does have a cieling, but alas it has the usual concrete floors, here's a pic of the place.
I ordered pad kappow moo from what I assumed was the waitress, if you read thru this thread you will realise that this is my favourite dish but alas she was not the waitress and didn't know how the fok to take an order for food properly, I mean who the fok goes to a Thai restaurant wearing an apron? The service was appalingly slow as the washer up lady was in her 70s and the cook not much younger, anyway I got this dish and with a big bottle of coke it came to an astounding 32baht, I got to admit Thai food is a good deal, the food cost 20baht, I wouldn't even fire up the old rice cooker if someone gave me 20 baht, but I have to say even with the fok ups and slowness of service the food was great, well apart from the fatty bit of meat they put on there.
Tomorrow I should not forget to buy a camera so I will be able to contribute to some threads. This would be one of them.
Can I post a picture of the Big Breakfast that I will be eating in about an hour? Its not Thai food, but it is made in Thailand.
Well yesterday I mentioned that the old fine dining would have to be knocked on the head for a while due to financial circumstances, so onto tonights fine cuisine.
Thai Noodle soup;
Now at the end of soi thepasit there is this really great noodle soup place, I probably go there a couple of times per month, coke and the old red pork soup is 30 odd baht, service is great and fast.
This evening my galfriend decided to get a takeaway from there for me, little did I know that she would personally add the condiments, normally there are 4 condiments, chilli powder, the vinegar chilli one, sugar and that other one, now the sugar one I never add to my food, that is reminiscent of council type houses and sugar on toast, the only thing I add sugar to is coffee and tea, the other one I have never tried, looks like big chillis in water, anyway I have to admit it was one of the worst meals of my life, the only reason I eat noodle soup there is because I like the soup and the red pork, I don't even eat most of the poxy noodles, anyway I apologise for not supplying a before picture but here is the after picture.
still waiting on that breakfast marmers
Sorry, I was too hungry, so I gobbled it up without taking a picture. Maybe next time...
