looking for the best and safe way to transfer money to my Thailand bank from the U.K.
Probably same as from Scandinavia. Use a normal bank transfer (3-5 days). I can do it from my Internet Bank for a small fee (around 5£ flat fee) and have the money in Bangkok Bank in 3 days. Don't pay bank-charges in Thailand, when transferring the money - they may deduct the same charge anyway, so you just pay double. Other transfers, like Western Union, may well be more expencieve than a normal bank transfer.
Some people advise to transfer in foreign currency (fx. £), as you may have get a better exchange rate in Thailand for the baht. I have the same experience.
checkout the Bangkok Bank web site.
Give it to me to look after, you have a better chance of getting a little back that way !
do it through a currency dealer if its over 10k you will get a better rate and its free they work on spot buying,10k at todays rate will get you around 48.6,bank rate 48.05.
get one thats covered by f.s.a.they brought this in last year because before it was un regulated,we used moneycorpe very affiecent.
