Fake Green Book

Hi All

Had an interesting conversation with a motor cycle dealer on my last visit when I was inquiring about second hand big bikes on consignment / for private sale

The guy was staight up and asked if I wanted to buy a bike with fake or real Green Registration Book.

Does anyone know what to look for with a fake book and if you wanted to check out, if it is real or not before you buy, what would be the tactful way of doing it?

Check the age of the book.

Are you buying a new bike with 20 year old registraion. Easy give away. Also changes to the serial numbers

GKBKK- you know it was not all that long ago that I went to an ATM which served out 3, crisp, new notes all with the same serial number
Luckily my wife spotted it, there was 2 witnesses and as the ATM was outside a bank (that was open) the notes we exchanged by the bank manager rather rapidly - for real!!!
Based on this experience, a geen book would seem a relatively simple target for a fake.

The thing to look for is the numbers on the frame and engine do they look real, original. The main part of the book does not tend to change. check the numbers on the engine and frame match the year in the book. I know a guy that has a Cbr400 90 in the book but numbers are for a 92 (and it looks like a 92).
