    Living in Sweden

Anybody ever applied for a visa for their wife to live in Sweden?

I was emailed a link to Ajarn about free universities in Sweden. After reading up on them I got the following info.

If I am a non-EU member I need to show ~600 quid per month that I am to be there. If I take my wife I need to show ~1000 per month for the duration of the course.

If I am an EU member I just need to apply for my residents permit.

it's not clear what to do about my wife's side of things and what has to be shown.

I have emailed them and they replied automatically tellingme within 14 days they would get back to me.

Being an impatient bugger I thought I would ask here as well.

My wifes friend is married to a swede and lives there 9 months of the year, she did not have any problem , but it is required that you speak swedish... and she is fluent now.

Nice place to live - Sweden.

    It is, however, horrifically expensive.

It's not required to speak Swedish, if in need of a permanent resident permit, she/he must learn Swedish.

Then, most needed info can be found at the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok.

Just think it lucky you're not going to move to Australia where you need to speak Oztraylian or they won't let you in.

I will, however, point out that it is important what shape of head you have, if you are to make a successful transition to normal Swedish life.

The Thai's are amazing when they move to live in Sweden, it doesnt take them long to learn how to speak Swedish, a highly adaptable species indeed...

    I'mm from the UK.

Spoke to an ECO for Sweden.

I would need to get my residents card (as an EU citizen studying there - not a problem) then as long as I can show the fund for my wife she can apply for a visa and should be granted it -- then she can get her temporary residence card for the length of my course.

Anyway - too many 3D world types taking advantage of the free education - fucking hard to get onto a course before 2010

I found it hard to find decent Thai food there or the ingredients, although I was out in the provinces.
