Yep, pretty simple process really. I had it done a whiles back. Can't remember the fee now but it wasn't much.
You'll have to take both passports in obviously.
Just make sure you have a couple of photocopies of every relevant page unless you need to lose a few pounds, as the office that transfers the visa is on the 3rd or 4th floor.
3 year ago it was about 450 baht to chamge you visa to the new passport
^^Free when I did it, also about 3 years ago.
on a similar note, my wife is changing her Thai passport, how can she transfer her UK visa to the new one? I presume she will have to go to Bangkok to do it?
shows you how out of date I am. Last time I had this issue they stapled your passports (new and old) together.
And I'm not joking
from memory it was a bit more substantial than stapling ,
I recall holes punched and reinforced with brass grommets , red ribbon and sealing wax.
It's free, always has been.Originally Posted by Ratchaburi

In the passport application form it states 'Please be aware, it is the passport holders responsibility to have all relevent visa's and/or permits and other documentation transfered to your new passport'.
oh, that is hardly useful information. This thread is about how to do it, the fact that you have to do it is a given.
did it t'other week
it is free
took about an hour
need copies of passport
its downstairs now in the room at the back, first desk as you go in the door
old school, miserable officals unfortunately
Relevent when the two posters i quoted were implying you dont need to do it.Originally Posted by DrAndy

For Mr Andrew, as it was to difficult a task to scroll through and find it all by himself.

Hmm, okay, so you say you don't have to, Andrew is saying that 'it's a given' that you do have to do it.Originally Posted by dirtydog
Who is right i wonder, all i did is state what it says in the passport application form you recieve from the embassy (British). Also told it was free to get it transfered at immigration (Suan Pluu).
Some touchy people here. That's a given Andrew.

From Border & Immigration Agency | Border and Immigration Agency :
You do not need to have your residence permit (known as leave to remain) transferred to your new passport but you can do this if you wish.
If you do not have it transferred to your new passport, you should carry both your old passport and your new passport when you travel to the United Kingdom, as evidence of your resident status. If you cannot produce your original permit, you may not be allowed to enter the country.
Postal application £160, in person at a public enquiry office £500
Most people decide to carry their old passport with them.

Forgot to add, I assume she has either FLR or ILR as she hasn't got a UK passport. If she has either you need to return within 2 years or show that you intend to settle in the UK and have a good reason for being out of the country for a long time. The key here is that it is Leave to Remain, not an extended tourist visa or a 'just in case' visa.
