So, I went to the immigration office yesterday to do my due date 90 day reporting. We had checked the office was open (which is surprising as government officers are supposed to be 100% WFH). Anyway, my secretary prepared my form as usual, I signed it and rucked up at the office.

This time the officer handed me back the form, and said "No need". She then entered my passport number in a computer, and printed off a slip, stamped it and stapled it in my passport. In the past, nothing at the desk would be computer entered (as I remember), they would stamp the form I provided, tear off the bottom and staple that in my passport.

The immigration officer also wrote the day that my visa needs extending (end september), AND the date of my next 90 report - mid October. Last year also I had the farce of extending my visa and rucking up two weeks later to do the 90 day reporting.

So, the past "logic" was we were reporting our address - that is now out the window as they do not now take that information. And it is clear that 90 day reporting is not linked to anything- you report every 90 days, even if you go in two weeks before to extend the visa. It seems that even exiting the country and returning does NOT restart the clock on the 90 days.

The changes now really do make it seem that they are simply f*cking with us.

I suppose at some time I could check out on line reporting, but frankly the office is not that far, and work provides me a car and driver to go do the reporting. I am quite happy as I had to work fairly hard for my work place to accept some shared responsibility for this.
