Curious what sort of regulatory conditions exist for schools.

I've recently figured out an education niche which will appeal to both Thai and Farang.

Will likely implement under my Thai proxy, and keep myself hidden. (Though I already have a trickle of foreign visitors who come to see me)
If I work it the trickle could become a flow, and what what I've observed the Thai are especially keen on what info I have to offer.

Must teach American English by Brits and any other cnuts who remotely sound English.

Bloke I know was disappointed with the local offering for his Luk Kreung kids. Started a primary school from scratch about 5 years ago. Still going strong now. Runs his own building business and works mostly in Phuket. Can't be that difficult.

This won't be targeting kids, though once established some sort of free access for local kids will certainly be open.

The general theme of the school will be 'hands on' jungle reforestation research and environmental reeducation.

Green school is a joke ...seriously ....it's now treated as a park ave conversation piece ... oh Sarah Jane spent a year at the green school in bali .... and all that sustainability toss your own compost shit for $15k US

^Ahh!... but you're somewhat mistaken. People are hungry for a new direction nowadays, which is not being optioned with current traditional 'corporate zombie' education.

$500 a head for a week of all inclusive environmental howdy doody is fairly cheap.

But I'm also thinking having free labor with the 'hands on' education approach.

Bit like agro tourism is it?

Have one down the road. Old boy who owns the place does ok. A few grass shacks to accommodate the adventurous tourists for a week of hard labor.

Believe he charges 15k baht per week. Includes food.

^ that's the general idea though I'll have certain special attractions no one else could muster.

There is a guy near Sri Ratcha doing something similar, which I'll investigate soon.

And I've already got a small trickle of travelers visit for free and am getting the world perspective that way.

Working the Thai angle will likely be nuanced.

I know a Philippina that started a school in Nonthaburi about 15 years ago with a Thai partner, they do well...

Regarding green stuff and eco, reforestation, volontourism is sure increasing in popularity this days and Thailand is the right spot for such venture...

And that's about where it's at.

I gave up volunteering in Asia once I was charged for my services.

Those so called charities and educational institutes are a con and a rip-off, as are WOOF schemes nowadays.

Thailand is for sure a good candidate but the leader of the venture is key for the success...

Montessori is another great teaching system...

May be you just wanna make the dosh, well i'll less follow the venture then, but there sure is money to be made in schooling.

Getting certified teachers is probably by the first steps to be approved...

It will be more about providing information and conducting research, than turning profits, but covering some of the operational overhead would be nice.

From what I'm observing with the Thai and people worldwide in general is they are quite literally starving for information that isn't corporate sponsored muppet government bullshit.

Sounds like a noble idea, wish you the best with that.

That sounds reasonable, and doable, if you can keep your overheads down.

Is there an advantage to it being a registered school rather than a resort? It could be registered as a resort but marketed as a school.

From my limited experience of reforestation, from observation, you don't need to go to school to plant trees . You need to be able to stand in the sun all day, dig a small hole every 2m and pop a sapling in. That and living in a tent of course as reforestation is done, in the jungle.

The most avid exponents of reforestation I have met are the forestry guys who plan and supervise the cutting of trees. One Kiwi guy was so respected that when he died the locals put up a memorial to him.

Reforestation is a subject covered for a degree in Forestry is it not. Are there any Thai universities offering degrees in forestry/silviculture etc?

Still is people will pay for roughing it, why not. And if it is an interest of yours why not get something out of it.

Yep I've been working with a forestry expert from Kasetsart, he's the one who helped get me started.

Probably don't really need an 'official' school moniker, since I won't be offering any degrees, just raw practical info and practice.
A sort of free form, of observing and letting nature do the talking.
