Yes, old chap. If you could just pop a few thousand pounds into my bank account to pay for the fucking thing, that would be spiffing.

Like to hear more about that, my girls are born in Australia, I'm British by birth and have held a UK passport, live and worked there.
In Australia the Uk Embassy says right of descent, passport can be processed at a post office.
Yet here in Thailand, that right seems to be denied, without lots of paper work and money.
Am I missing something, or are there 2 rules, commonwealth countries and non commonwealth countries.

You can do it at the British Embassy/consulate in Bangkok. I've done it and I know others who have done it. It wasn't difficult for me. Phone the consulate first to ask what's required. It was certainly easier in reality than the website made it look.

Thanks for that, have to go to BKK in a few months to renew my OZ and one daughters passport, plus see about that RRV, from the other thread.
All seems just a money making racket in the end.

Anyway good luck with the wonders of UK bureaucracy here is a picture to remind you of happier times .And don't forget home is where the heart is.

I rather doubt it, cocker - unless perhaps you're mates with an embassy high-up. It's all (long ago) been outsourced to VFS at Trendy Towers, near Nana. Pisspot renewals now require 2 costly visits to the capital. Info on the British Embassy website. Wankers, the lot of them....
I've learned that pleasing everyone is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

It was about 5 years ago, cocker. But yeah, the mileage might vary at the new place.

Well, Somtanslap doesn't need a visa, a TB test or an English test. I assume his wife does. I've no idea where she currently is but if she wants to get a settlement visa and she's Thai, she'll likely have to get it in Bangkok. I expect English tests and TB tests are available in the UK. Perhaps Slap has looked into that and knows if his wife can follow that route.

They might be, but they're required as part of the visa application. so need to be completed in Thailand.

Done! After five long months in the making. Kids can get on with their schooling now.

Can the mrs, having been given UK clearance, come in on a one-way ticket?

Yes, no problem if she's going on her settlement visa. Congrats to (Mr and) Mrs Slap.

    ^ Out of greens.

If you give this code at any Wetherspoons "BOGONGAVEYOUAGREENFORAFREEPINT",
the barman will look at you with awe and probably give you a free pint just for chancing it

    Well done!

Cheers all. Not a little frustration en route but worth it for the children's education. Personally I'd much rather be rolling around in the mud in north-east Thailand.
