Death sentences handed down in Michael Wansely murder case

The murder of Michael Wansely occurred in 2005. The guilty verdict was handed down in 2006 and has been getting a lot of press. In another murder farang case, a verdict of murder was handed down in the Michael Wansely case.

He was 58 years old at the time of his death he was on his way to audit the sugar mill. He found $150 Million fraud. Testimony heard by the court said, the hit man was paid $1000 to kill Wansley. It was big news at the time and a shocking case of a contract hit put out by business interest. This happened shortly after the economic meltdown in Thailand. The trial dragged on for years. The theory was Wansely was murdered because he had uncovered that the sugar mill owners had cooked the books. Two of the accused were sentenced to death. A third was sentenced to life imprisonment. The actual hitman is still on the loose. And the sugar mill owner was acquitted for insufficient evidence.

This list is found all over different forums covering Thailand...

Do they benefit more to open those jobs to foreigner willing to improve the job and technology around it, and in the same way hiring thai staff to make the production, ( witch later on can steal skills learned and compete against past boss...) or by closing the doors to this ??

Anyway, we foreigner work in most of those restricted jobs and are not really stopped or condemned to do it, it is still relax over here...

You can find the list here:
    Royal Decree

Some of them were modified, including the last one about law. If you check the THAI version of this same document on the same website, you will see that some of them have something in red beside. It means 'cancelled'. (numbers 1, 2 and 39)

    http://61.47.15.7/workpermit/royaldecree.html

This list was also on our website at www.koratlawyers.com

Starting Monday, I will be working in Pattaya for Siam Legal (Siam Legal :Your Gateway to Thailand: Thai Visa, Thai Work Permit, Thailand Legal Services, USA Visa, UK Visa , Retirement Visa, One year Visa, Property contract, buying condo or land, Business in Thailand, Estate Services, work in thailand) but will still be in Korat on weekends.

The hitman did it for only one thousand dollars, for a one hundred and fifty million dollars job.

Must have been a local. I'd have wanted more than a grand.

And a suger mill. Such a sweet job.

    As William said; good luck.

I hope you don't follow their normal ethical procedures as the guys in the Bangkok office are a pair of kunts.

I will follow the ethical procedures that I must follow by law. We have an ethical code in Quebec, probably as all the other bar associations, and it's regulated and checked.

I just met 3 or 4 lawyers of Siam Legal in BKK and they were quite nice. Especially Kert, a British and Australian attorney, able to speak Thai, Chinese and English fluently!

I mostly work in real estate. We do title deeds check, review purchase contracts, usufructs, leases, superficies, adding visas and wills. A one-year contract for me. Pattaya is a little crazy but I will adapt! Thanks.
