Question: office for quick marriage near Phayathai?

Just curious if anyone knows the place which I believe in near Phayathai where they have a program offering quick marriage ceremonies. I went to this place for a ceremony about 10 years ago. They often have multple couples of all sorts getting married. I think this happened on Thursdays there and they seemed to have a small reception hall for it. Does anyone know of this place? Where is it exactly?

All marriages in thailand are quick - into the Amphur office, chop chop, 5 minutes you are out. Is this what you are referring to?

^^^ Heard of this place before and know of one bloke actually going though with it.

From recolection, there are around 100+ marriages per day.

Not my cup of tea to be honest.

Sorry I have nothing to add apart from confirmation that it exists.

Oh. If it's for you and the missus, then you can pop around to Baan Ruk next to Silom if you wanna get a quickie wedding.
    Black diamonds? I shit 'em.

Not for me. Just remember it when talking to a friend so I figured I'd check it out for him here. It may well be the case that it's the same as the amphur nowadays but the place in BKK had some sort of ceremony to go with it. I think it was also for foreigners who weren't marrying locals as well. Thanks for the responses and the link.

Marriages are done (as in registered) at ANY Amphur. The one at Bang Rak (downtown Bangkok) is the most famous because it translates as the "district of love". They're even open 24 hours on valentine's day because of this and they marry TONZ of people on that day, it's a never ending queue!

I think there're places nearby most of the bigger Amphur offices which have those traditional hokey thai costumes for rent. They'll do your thai wife's face in that garish ghost white make-up and take pictures of you two looking uncomfortable in a cheesy chair, or something like that.

The marriage registration in Thailand isn't a ceremony, no matter who's getting married. It's just showing up at the Amphur with the proper documents, (for foreigners you need that "freedom of affirmation to marry" form from your embassy, translated into thai and certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a valid translation). You fill in a form, have your two witnesses (often available "for rent" at the Amphur office) pay the small registration fee, and Bob's you're uncle you're married in thailand.

Just a note, when people get divorced (amicably, not the tooth and nail drag out court fight), they often go to Bang Jak which is the "district of separation".

    That's the one.
Though, probably not what he's speaking of.
