    Question Australia Tourist Visa

Anyone have any experiences using the Australian visa service?

I don't have 10 posts or I would add the link at: xxw.vfs-au.net

I will be making a port visit in Brisbane and want my TGF to meet me there for a few days.

Looking at the web-site, it seems to be straight forward and I have seen some posts that the Australians don't mess with the visiter visas like the US or G.B.

Any advice or personal experinces would be appreciated. Thanks.

    BJ

^ yah wot they said - shouldnt be an issue.

be warned - it takes 2-6 weeks to get organised.

I would bother with dropping money into her account as they will ask for a bank statement - a single deposit of 100K instead of amounts of 1000 baht etc is a bit of a give away. they aint stoopid like

Aust is quite easy, partic compared with the Pommy / US embassy, as Rig said, make sure she has some dosh in the bank, if you just wack it in the day before the application, they will smell it, although I don't think they care too much wether its your or hers as long a someone is supporting her. Land docs etc are all good, but I not heard of anyone being refused, maybe a little tougher now with VFS but they are OK to deal with as well.

depends is she coming out from thailand to meet you here in brisbane which means she will have to go through the aus visa office in bangkok which is full of thais and they seem to resent any thai travelling to aus.and gave my girl a hard time.2 years ago
you need to send a letter of invite to your Gf to come to aus
you will also need to send details of money in your bank, get letter from your bank. Also copy of your pasport and photostat any pages that show entry visas to thailand for you so you can say you have had a relationship going for some time. get all copies witnessed by JP no dramas then
say you will be responsible for her medical, list where she will be staying(address) in brisssy she will need to have a minium 30,000 baht in her bank account,no need for medical.just make sure you say in letter you are bringing her out to aust to see the sites (tourist).
The immigration have been having a crack down last 12 months as about 8,000 thai turned themselves in a the last amnensty and applied for citizenship.
I logged a complaint with the minister for immigration due to the treatment of my then girlfriend at the time by the bangkok immigration office.
Since then she has been and gone 6 times and no drama they just give her the 3 months immeditally, and last time offered her 12 months, but as soon as winter hits here in brissy 16 degrees she is back on the plane.

This is why some times it is better for her to show money in her bank as if she is real tourist going to Australia. You will not have to show fok all other than she has money to support her self and has some thing to return to.
Never had any probs with them at all

I had to jump through a few hoops when I took someone to Aus and I agree with CL that the shit-heads in the Embassy are probably jealous so they give you a hard time. I just phone up for my visa, but they still wanted a letter from MY boss as part of the application for my ex-gf's visa!! Wankers!

My Tgf visited twice in 1995 no problem, we married had a daughter and when we tried to go back in 2005 it was a fuckin nightmare.
I was ringing the embassy in banglok daily, my wife was in tears at being refused, the local Immigration people in Darwin said it would take 9 months and I had to post $5000 guarantee.
We had been married for 7 years had a 6 yo Thai/Australian daughter for christ sakes.
I tolf Vanstone where to stick her $5000 and we moved back to Thailand.
I'll only go back to renew my medicare and veterans card now, to make sure I get my pension paid.
JW and GWB are my favorite whipping posts.
