    What to invest in?

Being that i will be relocating to Thailand in a few years i have been thinking ahead and wondering about a business to invest in. I have been around night clubs for a number of years but i am unsure about the costs in Thailand. One thing i have been wondering about in depth is a 7-11 store. Any ideas on costs and if this would be the right way to go? I think it would be good due to that fact its a trusted brand and its low risk. Any suggestions or comments would be great. Thanks in advance.

Your Thai partner must have a degree to open a 7-11.

Make sure it's located on a junction corner shared by two other 711s and a Family Mart.

Only kidding. What's your background experience in LoS and employing those made in LoS?

Do you have a Thai partner you can trust? Otherwise, be very cautious about doing business here.
I certainly like convenience stores better than F & B, but a lot depends on where you are going to settle and so on.
My advice- spend at least six months on the ground here before you leap.

I had been coming to Thailand for many years before I moved here to live.
Right from the very first trip I started to invest a bit of money in houses and lots, I did this for all the years I visited and it has set me in good stead, and I learned a lot.

Whore Houses and Lots of Booze, and I learned that it is no way to have any money to live on tomorrow.

My missus is a partner in her family business but has decided to take a less active role and seek a new venture. Like i said, my background is mainly in clubs and promoting aswell as vechicle and parts sales; scrap, salvage and car sales. We thought about the 7-11 brand because it is very well trusted and used by many people. Obviously location is something that needs to be looks at aswell as having someone experienced to look after it while we are not there. I heard that 7-11 train their own staff in a "school" before putting them into a shop? anyone know anything about this? or have any experience in opening a store in Bangkok?

Seems as though this is a never ending subject matter.

The best answer to "what should I invest in, in Thailand" is NOTHING.

If your looking for income put your money in any number of preferred stocks from major companies around the world. With some due diligence you will make between 7 - 9 percent. No risk, no hassle.

Anything you put into Thailand is a risk higher than the average lotto ticket.

Basically if you dont have enough income from sources outside Thailand then you shouldn't come and try to live here. Relying on businesses to secure your future here is dangerous. Eating up savings whilst doing so is financial suicide.
Everything is geared against whitey making money here, it may not be apparent immediatley but after a few years living here, its obvious.

Of course theres always teaching but the money that pays is a disgrace.

I was thinking of buying a Rubber Plantation.......But the plunge in the Price of Latex has me wondering if it's a good idea.
