So because she,s a bird married to a Thai bloke she can get Thai citizenship, without all the hassle.

Why is different for women then, she is still a farlang and you would imagine both sexes to be treated the same.

If this is fact there must be a valid reason.
the difference has little to do with she being a farang woman,
the difference is because she is the spouse of a Thai man

I sort of fail to see why one would imagine that both sexes be treated the same in LoS
does not surprise me at all that there are more "benefits" for spouses of Thai men
than for spouses of Thai women.

The spouse of a Thai man!
So why is it different then?

Would it be the same if for example the Thai man was a Gay and took a farlang male?

As stated before men and women are equal here.
Why are you not surprised you are not getting to the point.

Yes the constitution does state that men and women are equal, but as with most laws in this country it is entirely discretionary, particually when it comes to government dealing with the prolles

If a ferang woman having married a Thai man decided to get a divorce from her mate, would she still keep her Thai citizenship? (Provided she had it before her divorce?) Would she have rights to her mates assets?

Thai males are not equal in any way to Thai females or other females in any culture. They consider themselves superior to all things female. The law will Always end up on the side of the Thai male.

I cannot disagree. She may possibly be dysfunctional as a female, thereby the attraction.

I am not surprised because men and women are not equal in the Thai society.
Have never been, might of course be in some distant future.

In the bottom end of society I would agree, but further up the line I have been lead to believe they are very equal.

Some of the comments here really are quite naive, particualrly those expressing dismay, surprise or even disgust when they discover foreign women marrying Thai men get a preferential ride.

Thailand is medieval. It's an uncivilised state in which men are regarded as the superior species. Polygamy is rampant. The natural order is structured with the male line taking precedence at every social class within its ghastly society.

Only 50 years ago women were treated much the same as cattle.

Now, in 1997 something happened which gave the chickenhead a digit up his ass.

When the silly fuckers had to pay back their loans with devalued baht they went broke. The IMF passed them the crutch but it came with strings attached one of which was the repeal of the law that forced the Thai female to give up property rights upon marriage to a foreigner.

Way to go Somchai and fuck you. But of course, being the smarmy little fucks they truly are they ensured that on purchase of any land by a Thai bint married to a foreigner she made a declaration signed by the husband that he had no lien on it. Still, it was progress.

There is no way the Thai will permit reciprocal rights exercised by foreign male spouses equal to those of the distaff farang. It would open the floodgates to a deluge of citizenship applications which in time would dilute the purity of the chickenhead class and that would never do. Luk kreung of course don't matter since they are needed to feed the media machine and are generally quite white which is always nice.

They're a bunch of a racist, hypocritical tossers and that's that. Just accept it.

    Fuck 'em.

So you need citizenship to dilute the purity of the Thai class.

Suppose my two boys being 50/50 are pure Thai and if one day they end up with farlang wife,s there would still be no diluting of the Thai class.

Thai class will continue to be diluted as it has for fuck knows how many years.

Economics, family responsibilities and a desire to quit the rat race early underpinned the move.

If it were left to me as a free agent I'd be on the western Algarve now but I think I have already told you that.

If the Thai weren't so silly, stupid, irresponsible and greedy this place would be a reasonable billet but as it is, they are and it isn't.

Well, the number of foreign women I know married to Thai men (and I know a few) pales in comparison to the number of foreign men I see parading around hand in hand with their dark as coal, pug-nosed, splayed toed, gold encrusted, 6th grade dropout, rice farmer's daughter from Nakhon Nowhere, Thai g/f or wife.

I also imagine the posers, err posters expressing outrage aren't even interested in getting PR status to begin with, and it's just another reason to cry, "Oh the humanity, oh the inequality, oh the discrimination.."

While indeed foreign females do get some "preferential treatment" in going the Thai citizenship route, (especially in regards to financial & tax requirements), it's still NOT a slam dunk by any wild stretch of the imagination. Just as an aside, a foreign male married to a Thai can forgo the permanent residency stage, after meeting the financial requirements for a period of time and they can apply directly for Thai citizenship. However, anyone who's "retired" can't apply for permanent residency here, because you're not paying into the Thai taxation system. Sorry, supporting your thai (in)significant other, the half breed kids, the extended family and the sick buffalo doesn't qualify as "contributing" to Thailand. I mean that's just the way it is.

PR applications for Thailand are based on quotas for each country and are rarely filled each year. I think each country can have 100 people (not sure maybe 50). The only ones which routinely max out are China, India and I think one other. This leads me to believe white foreigners aren't all that interested in attaining it, nor going for Thai citizenship.

I find the quote by the poster known as "ltnt"; "She may possibly be dysfunctional as a female, thereby the attraction." quite humorous..

That's exactly the demographic of foreign males with Thai (in)significant others I see here; dysfunctional to the n-th degree. They seem to be from the bottom of the barrel, or wading in the shallow end of the gene pool.

I find the rampant Thai-bashing quite amusing as well. Believe me, I'm not enchanted with, endeared to, or enamored by either this country or its ever smiling diminutive population, and I bash 'em at will. Still I realized right after moving here nearly 8 years ago that there're probably so many Thais here because I mean where else would they be, except in a country called "Thai-land"? Pretty much we all live here by choice, not chance or blind luck. It is what it is, you either deal with it all; the good, the bad & the ugly, or it eats you up and spits you out.

Oh and don’t misunderstand, I like Thai women just fine, just not dark, dumb hill-billy's.

Interesting topic though.. Quite diverse posts... Please have some cheese with your whine guys.

Another one who missed the sarcasm. "...dysfunctional as a female..." meaning perhaps she's a he-male.

I've got to quit posting here, the fuktards are simply to thick and full of themselves to actually understand anything posted here other than their own very personal agendas.

I think that many of these types think they're finding friends here. T.V. or not it does not seem to matter. Ignorance is abundant here.

Now I will wait for the retards to swarm in and respond with their usual gibberish.
