What kind of house would 2,000,000 baht buy/build me in one of the central provinces

What kind of house would 2,000,000 baht buy/build me in one of the central provinces??

I'm thinking Ratchaburi, Kanchanaburi or Nakon Pathom. I would like a bungalo ideally. Pictures please if possible becuase things like 2000 sq feet and appended roof mean nothing to me.

This is an issue where 'falangs' often get confused. To answer the question posed. Well, either a hell of a home or a shell of a home.

Still confused? Well either a 'falang' can build a shell of a home for 2 million baht or a room for 2 million baht.

    Why the confusion?

About anyone can afford to slap up a concrete home. Cost is damn near nothing other than the B200 labor per day per worker.

But then, the damn toilet, kiitchen, wardrobes, living room, dining room, plumbing, electicity, tiles, woodwork,TV, phone, windows, doors, etc, come into play.

In Thailand, a home is cemented walls! Anything else is extra...

someting like this. Thanks itchy !!!

Medium range fixtures and fittings would suit me. ( my parents have a five bedroom house with covered swimming pool but it was all modestly done) I hate "Footballers' wives " bling bling design

I would hate to live in one of those Barrat home style "rich" thai housing complex. I'd like somewhere quiet, on its own and with a bit of character.

The deal here is that the houses are worth nothing, the value is in the land. So all those folk who buy a 3mill baht house on 50 wah are fooling themselves. The reason I think is that there is no developed second hand house market. Anyone with a bit of cash buys new.

I could do you a good deal on a 2 bedroom bungalow in Chai Nat. Three falangs built tham together a few years ago, they cost about 700,000 bhat to build with the land, but have since been basicaly gutted so all thats left is the shell. Don't know how much they would part with one for but no one has lived in them for about 2 years.

Nice spot about 1 km outside the town. Chai Nat is a nice place as well the river runs through it and has it's own tesco's, usually some teaching jobs going around the area.
I have more than the average number of arm and legs

Building costs are pretty much the same wherever, land prices vary dramaticaly as to wether it's in or near a main town, and labour may be a bit cheaper in some areas

    They are all reposessions.
The bank wants to recover the amount loaned + interest.
Anything over that amount is given back to the ex-owner.
Bottom line is that the banks don't give a fok how much the house is sold for as long as they get their money back.

I've done it and so has Itchy.
You can get a good deal but it takes time and perseverance

I do actually get a sort of remmitace from me gran to void her paying inheritance tax. My parents development hasn't started yet but if that goes according to plan I could class myself as one of the idle rich (if I lived in a third world country) Don't worry though I am still a scum bag.
