Notwithstanding the current warzone in Bangkok at the moment, the reason for my trip to Thailand this year was to get things started with respect to building a 2 storey house in Uthai Thani.
I've read TD and searched for other sources online with respect to building in Thailand, and purchased a book on building in Thailand for expats. The book is pretty good and I've found lots of useful advise on here.
Yesterday I stumbled across Siam Cement's new prefab concrete joint venture with a Japanese company. They handle the entire construction of the house... full turnkey... which makes life sound quite easy for me. However, the technique they are talking about is very different from the conventional Thai way of building concrete houses (ie pillars). Has anyone had any experience with SCG's prefab or know of any houses built using this technique? Any other companies offering prefab as an option? I'd greatly appreciate any views on this technique compared to the conventional building technique.
Note, SCG's prices are quite outrageous... 30k to 50k per m2. The conventional method should only cost me 20k per m2. However, their outfit seems quite professional, in which case it might be worth the extra cash (if I can get it to 30k... I certainly won't entertain 50k).
