What kind of drill?

I love man toys. However, i often get confused. Is this a hammer drill or a regular drill. What about the different drill bits available?

BTW, this guy does all of my electricity work around my home.

Hammer drills normally have a switch to change from hammer action to normal, normal drills don't have it - mine has a little picture of a hammer on the switch - 300 baht from BigC - there's no substitute for quality

It is a bosch percussion drill with sds drill bits, about 7k baht for a new one, as for nicka and his 300 baht drill, hmmmmmmmm, although I did buy a couple of them and they were great for wood and metal and lasted about 3 months before they had to be thrown away.

My boyfriend bought me a power devil hammer drill for xmas a few years back.i love all that shit,got my own tool kit e.t.c ,i always say if you want a job doing ...i may as well do it myself .
next thing i need is a laser straight line thingy as i always put up shelves wonkey.. standing joke in my house

It is a combination drill switchable between normal drill / hammer drill / hammer only.
Some of them have 2 chucks for an easy switch between standard drills and jack-in drills.
Bosch also has a couple of jack-in cement hammering tools.

As a hammer it is not very strong so should only be used for smaller jobs.

It looks like a Bosch. Not a bad drill but I find that drills that try to function as both are Shite. It has to many revolutions to make a good hammer drill, and the switch were you change it over wears out to fast. If you want a good hammer drill I think hilti makes the best

I got a cheap one from Big C. The masonry drill bits that came with it were rather special. They lasted just one hole. I kept them just for a laugh:

Yeah the little mechanism on the side is a mess on the inside. To cheap!

My brother in law is a window fitter. He uses a special drill that goes into rock hard Victorian bricks like a hot knife through butter. Lovely bit of kit, but rather expensive. I think it's called a pneumatic drill, but not the road digging type.

That would be spline shank modell for the american market, sorry they are not cleaned up here as i took the shot in a hurry...
such piece would easy be over 1000 thb per piece, but you can have it at a 1/10 of a price of a shag...
