^ Any chance of a close-up on one of those rocks. A fresh, wet surface preferably.

^ No problem. I PM'd Stumpy my rock identification price guide. Of course if he wants age as well then that's extra.
^ just warming you up to Mendips ulterior motive
^ I knew he was up to something. Some of them do have a slight gold tint to them and weigh alot.
Finishing up the project
Went and picked up all the parts to install the electrical
I decided versus hard wiring the pumps, that I would set up a water resistant box and mount to the wall behind the middle water fountain.
Washed out the dust and debris, installed the drain plug and began filling. I went to our various lotus pots and got buckets of water that already has established bacteria and water stability and added as it filled.
I added the large rocks in strategic locations and also put the cement bricks that have larger openings underneath the plants so the crawdads can establish new homes which many adapted to almost immediately
Have 9 large ones and 11 young ones and one female I saw was carrying egges. The immediately took up home amongst the rocks and the openings in the cement bricks
Water feature filled and pumps running
Had a little friend come out of one of the pots after that water covered the pot. I moved it away.
Last part is a few solar lights in a few areas and some more various fish.
Did you silicon seal around the back of the wall box?
^ While the rain never hits there and the Haco box is rubber sealed, the likeliness of water ever flowing up into it are slim to none. But out of general practice any water box I add, I always add silicone to them to stop any water from entering.
Mr. Neat and Tidy
While I admire your work I would've put a layer of mud and debris on the bottom of the pool so the "crawdads", this not what I would call them but they are what I am used to which is Gilgies (Yabbies for Eastern Staters),would have something to play/shit in rather than a sterile concrete floor.
Are you planning on feeding them?
Water feature looks very phallic.
'Dribble' rather than 'spurt' type, I presume.
First time look on this thread. I was under the impression that most of northern Thailand was a water feature at the moment?
The more formal presentation here, is a pleasant surprise. Cheers Stumpy.
Actually they do not need mud. They do need holes and places to hide and live. They are actually very territorial
Of course. I toss in Geckos I kill around the place and occasional pieces of chicken liver. They also like to eat the fish food. The large ones are probably 2+ years old. I did notice a female had a clutch of eggs in her tail. So more little ones coming.
Looking damn fine. Now what are you going to do?
Very nice work , looking forward to your waterfall project.
Be carefully with your fish selection. Koi will eat your lotus and floating water cabbage,
They ate all of mine.
If you want Koi, you can have mine.
A few years ago I put a few fancy tail Guppies in there, Now I have maybe a couple of thousand, those red mollies seem to do well also. Oh and I also threw five orange catfish and now they are ten times their size, and doing great.
Your water feature is looking great!!!
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.
Looking great Stumpy.
Credit to you and your apprentice!
Thanks BB. I am going to leave it as is for now. A waterfall could happen later.
There will be no Koi fish. I am going to keep it pretty simple. I added the skeeter eating Guppies and the red clawed crawdads. I might add a few other small fish but not in a hurry. I did have a small turtle I put in a lotus pot in the back forty area that has escaped or something snagged it. Will find another one at some point.
Had a pretty good laugh today. Was cruising around a few pet shops today looking for a few different little fish, Guy had a baby snapping turtle at one. Hmmmmm. I passed for now. They grow fast and would ultimately kill everything in the pond.
