We have a detached kitchen on the back side of the house and even with fans running while cooking it becomes extremely hot and the burners by the window do not really evacuate the heat with the fan behind her so we decided to switch it all around and more importantly add an industrial style hood and a new 3 burner stove top.
Here is picture as it was before.
Before. The layout wasn't very efficient.
So I called up my wifes Uncle and he came by and we drew up the plans ( with the chefs approval of course) and off we went. We wanted to integrate the old counter cabinet set ups as they were in good shape.
I moved everything out and we started with the new cement counter top
New counter top, with stove and sink location. Uncle was doing the Thai bracing as I cut metal with Boon and he welded
I was the cement mixer and Boon did the pouring and finishing.
Ang did all the cement trimming while Boon and I were out figuring out how to modify the original tables to properly slide underneath.
We got the old cabinets mounted underneath and my part of helping was done until plumbing and electrical as I am not a masonry guy. They added wall tiles and counter top tiles.
With the tile done, We installed the new stove and sink.
Got the hood installed. Starting to take shape now.
I installed all the faucet plumbing and water purification system
My uncle does really nice Tile work. All turned out nice and being able to re use all the old cabinets which my wife liked was a big plus
Kitchen changes done. Hood works outstanding and pulls not only the fumes but a lot of heat out. The Kitchen is so much cooler and having moved it all to the wall that is shaded all day helped as well.
I was trying to convince my wife that there is plenty of room to add a nice center island so she can prep food etc but she doesn't prefer them and its her "Womans Cave" so who am I to say..
