I love our CCTV system. Can remote access in from our smart phones anywhere with the talk feature. 4 of the 10 cameras are motion sensor activated and follow a person or a dog or whatever. They also alert us to movement. We have 2 across the pool diagonally for safety reasons and one looking at the gate with HD zoom capability on all. The others are scattered in strategic locations. I personally do not look at them all that much but my wife does frequently. But the times I have looked, they are a very nice. Its a much nicer security feature versus putting bars on doors and windows which will never happen at our place.

Nice Job Peciacake. Place looks very well built. Now comes the landscaping part and some good shade trees.

Thanks for your kind words Stumpy. Yes it is well build even by Western standards.
The shade trees will go in as soon as the builders have departed, and plenty of them too. Coincidentally we were only discussing the different varieties to be planted this morning.
Landscaping will be one formal rose garden backed by hibiscus as a feature view from our bedroom. We hope it will be close enough for the fragrance to come inside the house. The rest of the garden will be tropical, along the lines of organised chaos. Low maintenance with plenty of ferns, palms and ground coverers under a canopy of frangipanis. Plenty of orchids too.

Coincidentally, I had a house built in Bangkok many years ago with a very similar design to peciacake's except it was two stories due to smaller block of land. The inspiration was Qld country pubs with the 3m verandahs all around and above ceiling ventilation.



When it was first built it was out on its own and the soi was called Soi Farang by the locals. Unfortunately this did not last long and we soon had neighbours all around us.

It is if in the original build drawings but too late for this build.

Update 20.06.23

The builders were back late Monday along with Khun Pu.
The plan is to complete as much of the outstanding work as possible this week:
- Install Smartmatt flooring in 2 X bedrooms (see photos below)
- Install toilets in 2 X bathrooms
- Install bath & taps
- Install vanity basins
- Install skirting boards throughout the house
- Connect waste water pipes to septic tanks
- Hang 2 X external and 3 X internal doors

That will leave installation of the solar PV system, water tank and pump & guttering along with the final paint. Not long to go now

Certainly are Norton. Spent the afternoon yesterday at Index Living Mall.
- Wardrobes
- Bedroom suite
- Kitchen
Three staff from Index came out this morning and measured everything up to make sure what we ordered will all fit.
Great service - very impressed with their field sales team.
They even brought their own laser leveller. Our levels were spot on, but apparently they often go to do installs in new houses where the levels are out.

Sort of had a bit of laugh SG. Those outlets look like what I have seen at a miniature golf course I have played at with my daughters. Hit the ball through the windmill and it heads to the hole at the bottom. Nice concept though.

I knew a guy in the philippines that built a queenslander in dasmarinas cavite, pretty much everything was imported, my mate was a brikky and supervised the job. He even had a windmill .

Teak doors on Teak Door
One of the key features of the aesthetic for the house was the use of teak doors. We had them in the plan from Day 1, and these look great.
Very happy with the door quality and the install - the three builders who did the install knew how much it meant to me & made sure these look and fit just right.
My plan is to finish these in good quality Teak preserver. It will be an annual task to re-oil them but I'm keen to retain the natural colour rather than finishing them in clear epoxy. Any suggestions on a good brand of Teak preserving oil would be very much appreciated.

Häfele double dead locks are fitted to the three external doors Yuri is happy to know these are a very strong lock, with a solid case and a 26mm dead lock tongue. No fancy digital keypads, just solid, functional dead locks that will last and last.

Chang Nhy took on installation of the waste water system. He is the hardest worker on the crew, leading by example. He could easily have delegated this job but took it on himself, digging out wet sticky clay that had washed into the settling tanks. No easy way to get it out, just hard back breaking digging. Every time I see him working I give thanks to Khun Pu for having him as the Chang for our build. His sidekick is less impressive - more often than not I see him doing a great impression of a statue, something he does with style.

It's easier for the forklift with the beer to get closer to the fridge.

That's one reason for sure SG. . But we did our double doors for circulation, ease of moving furniture in/out and in general they look nicer than a single door. Our Teak doors are extremely heavy. Can't be lifted by just one person and took 4 hinges to hold them up in the door opening.

This kis one of the great mysteries of TD, uploading pics. You can do exactly the same thing with variable results. Even on the same thread, the same day. Most will show and then some don't. It's all part of the joy.
