It's a curious thing, I spent five years living in 3 different towns and there always seemed to be some deviants nearby with fighting cocks. Those things can crow at each other all night; one crows then all is silent for 10 to 12 seconds, just enough time so you think it is finished, then another one crows, and so it goes, on and on.
Now I'm in a rural area and my neighbours have chickens with at least one rooster each. They crow but their noise doesn't bother me at all. We even had the windows open for a few nights recently, then the last couple of nights have got warmer so it's back to aircon.
The dogs are sometimes a problem, especially if there is a bitch on heat and horny dogs arrive from miles around. Their fighting and barking doesn't bother me too much, the problem is my dogs have much more acute hearing and they join in, from a few feet away, which is quite noisy.
