Anyway I'm over it now so don't feel guilty.

After reading all you have said about thinking ahead and Missy's daughter needing to stay living there to claima right to some of the value of the land I had this horrible thought.
Do you think the other members of the family are filling the swamp so they can then claim it as their land because they filled it?
Is the whole land parcel one title or is it split up so there could not be any disputes later, at least not more than there will be anyway?

It seems to me that she is happy to stay living in the dwelling that already exists so I would suggest you should get them (Missy and daughter) to focus on reclaiming i.e. filling in around and behind (from where the road will go.
I believe you would have access on the road/track as shown by the black line and then I would fill along and in the direction of the red lines to eventually encompass the current dwelling and at least 15m all around it. That would allow in the future for building something directly behind the current dwelling and still be roughly 10m from the roads edge.

Why not get Simon involved and let him build a couple of hotels there? Lots of space for it.

Simon will build it at his cost and give it to you. It's what he's done about 20 times before and all you'd have to do is sleep with him a couple of times.

So I know you want to help Missy but you probably need to remove yourself from the immediate decision . OK I'll do that . I'll stay here .

If you fill from the edge out then the risk of subsidence is decreased because blah blah blah blah ....... use rubble rather than soil. I will do that.

I think David has the right idea . Such a creep. ...... but who gives a toss ? That was unexpected !!

How about this idea, fill in around the current house . I shall ...... So it doesn't slide into the pond. OK

I know you said early on that you would not come back here ..... well maybe a couple of hours ...... if you do return please let me know. I shall .

    Cheers

Sure you good park a couple of bikes on this. Maybe a bit more sophisticated than you're looking for but the basic idea is still the same. Just build a small jetty for the car.

Yeah, houseboat, for sure. No need to be fancy though. Yep the jetty for the car is also the bridge to the house.

You'd fill them with polystyrene (recycled/re-purposed...cheap as) and seal them. Then coat them in epoxy. Should get a few years out of them, and in this case since the water is only a metre deep, maintenance and repairs would not be a major logistical problem.

    Flood proof too.
As for sanitation, a long flexible outlet pipe that has plenty of slack if the water rises.

No need to fill them with anything but air mate.

The only issue would be to add a UV stabiliser to the plastic resin before producing the containers.

    Would last for centuries.

Totally agree about the UV. The foam is intended to displace water should a leak occur.

Nice ..... but we#re getting a bit carried away here.

I hadn't realised how much shitty stoney infill has already been thrown in there by the families .
We could end up with a little houseboat surrounded by 6 inches of water .

No. They are not pushing her out . They have no plans to sell anyway ...... which is a bit insane .
They could sell the Water Buffalo and sell the back half of the land and just rearrange very well . But it's like an ant trying to push a bus uphill.
They'd get a lot of cash selling off half .

Is the whole land parcel one title . Yes its one parcel . One title.

And that's exactly what I've come to . No soil rubbish . No piles . Crushed rock establishing her clear claim to her share.

SO ....... The final word on this ................

Following the words of people who advised ---- An agent has been appointed ( Missy's friend ) to go and look for prices for lorry loads of crushed rock and brick .
To be deposited in 3 stages . First Left of the current house 1. Then behind that platform 2 . Then behind the house 3. Going out maybe 10 metres behind the house . And nothing else . Just leave it to settle . If nothing happens with the road in the next year it can all just lie there settling happily and establishing her claim .

    Watery Construction-final-word-jpg

Thank you for your contributions . It all helped me think much better .

Well it's a case of me inflicting what I want --- onto Thais who don't care at all.

I dragged from my memory the fact that the Indolent Brother moved into what used to be a Rice Store .
He cleaned it up a tiny amount .
Put in a tv , a fan , a bed ,a minimal kitchen and he's perfectly happy there . Sits outside all day looking at his iPad.
That dwelling measures 5 metres by 3 metres . 15 sq metres . No mortgage . Alle ist gutt .
So as and when it may become necessary ... if the daughter gets a basic house that's say 7 metres by 6 metres to give her 42 sq metres it's positively palatial.

    As and when .

    There you go.

Put a couple of flags in the lake marking your piece, let the rest of the family fill their portions in and you'll just infill in on top of their spreading dirt pile.

No soil rubbish . No piles . Crushed rock and an obvious claim.
And perhaps an obvious "clay" would be also good...

" Claim " ...... as in : the infill is making obvious her ' claim ' to that section of land.
