Hi Maanaam, actually one of our tactics to reduce direct sunlight onto the northern part of the level 1 western wall is to position the rain water collection tanks there. (The southern portion of the wall is going to be covered by a side awning.) The chimney disguise reminds me of the months of personal thinking I did on whether to include a wood heater in the house. After living and working in Singapore, Dubai and Phoenix for the last decade I was keen to sit around a wood heater when the weather was cooler. After months of deliberation I decided it would just look out of place and be useless 95% of the time, the head overruled the heart. Regards, -BiP

Would look a lot like a brick chimney rising from ground to roof.

Hallelujah, now I can see !
I hope you, or your missus, are going to keep those floors so blindingly clean and shiny ?
More seriously, now we can see the logic for those small windows you showed in the plans earlier.
All those cabinets will give you lots of storage space, and the island bench gives plenty of workspace too.
Electrics .....are you having power points in the island bench ? You can never have too many power sockets in the kitchen, even though a thai might be inclined to just use one socket and lots of extension cords and power boards. As somebody who spent too many years slaving over a hot stove in commercial kitchens I'll be making sure that there is a power point within arms reach of each and every work space in our future kitchen.
Good lighting is another important thing for kitchens, if this was my kitchen I would have LED strip lighting under those cabinets or at least provision for them in the future. But it's yours, so 'up to you".

Hi mikenot, the floor tiles were artistic license by the kitchen supplier. We've chosen a far less shiny and textured tile that should hide the grime and dust between the twice weekly cleans. There are three double powerpoints above the kitchen bench, another double near where the refrigerator will be and one more near the cutout/servery to the dining room. We felt we had enough and have not put any power to the island bench. Each of the electric oven, hob and hot water heater have dedicated power. LEDS above the benchtops worth a look. Going to review the kitchen lighting plan with Mark the builder within the next week. Regards, - BiP

i am not having a power point on my kitchen island either. Primarily ours will be for food preparation, probably while chatting to those sat at the breakfast bar which is part of it.

But...I do have 8 double sockets in the kitchen and a dedicated sput connection for the oven/hob.

Also, as discussed earlier, the cooker, fridge, washing machine are all on seperate breakers so that a trip out does not cut all the power to the other units.

This is especially relevant if the washing machine trips - you don't want your fridge freezer having no power due to a communal breaker

That is exactly what we need to do with our place. Though it works for the moment what we have now is not by any means a long term solution if we were to actually live there.

The last time, late 2016, I asked the manager of the " Home Depot " about spray on insulation and all I got was a blank stare. In time I'm sure I can find the proper people with real solutions to the building we have now.

Good luck with it and thanks for the pix.I will show them these to get to the right supply chain.

TD, if it is for food preparation are you never, ever, going to use a food processor or a mixer ? For the breakfast bar, are you never, ever, going to use a blender to make mango smoothies ? Will you never, ever, want to use a toaster ?
Up to you of course, but I would have had power sockets installed just in case one day you needed one. But as I said, I spent many years working in commercial kitchens so perhaps my thought processes are a bit different to “amateurs” in the kitchen ?

I put a power point in my Aussie home’s kitchen island.
Later I wished I’d put in hot and cold water and a drain pipe .....

Thanks NamPikToot, I've thrown a few wise cracks into the remarks lately and you are the only reader to react. I was starting to think I might have created an anti-Playboy blog, you know, they only come here for the pics. Regards, - BiP

I will retire here in the future and will build a house also to retire/die..
I'm currently living in Rayon ,Suan Son, I like the area, but have been here only 1 month and have to fall in love with joint before I buy land..

You build has been a dream compared to some of the builds I have read over the many years lurking on this site.

Never ever cos that's how we are!!

lol... those power points for the kitchen toys are all around the worktop and wall behind the island.

Knife prep only in the middle, or serving up, plus of course the storage beneath.I did not want to complicate the island, hence the decision. Everyone to their own.

Can still do veg prep, baking prep, etc etc while talking to anyone in the kitchen with you.

The powered prep needs more concentration (does when i'm doing it, anyway cos I'm a bit slow) so i put ll the powered gizmos in the kitchen proper to make sure no distractions.

They say the kitchens the heart of the house, may be true but... not all of it. I would not want an army of visitors sitting on my shoulder, getting under my feet or say, poking around in the oven while I was cooking in the kitchen work area.
