The garage is moving along.
This lad seems to stand around a lot. Must be a gofer.
Never mind here he is in action.
A few updates on the garage.
Big garage, what's going in it?
^Ha I have been obsessing that it was to small after one of the family said it was small. It's funny how one persons comment can set you thinking.
As for whats going in it. Probably gardening tools in the storage area. We don't own a car in Thailand just rent something when were on holiday. We may get a golf cart to tool around the village.
Here are some pipes there running for the kitchen sink. It was all on top of the walkway before and draining onto the ground. So I asked the contractor to try and hide as much as possible. I'm not sure what the plan is for covering up those two pits.
This is a new doorway where the weird windows where and the other one was bricked in. Our contractor pictured a real nice lady.
Our painting contractor watching his work dry. It's a bit of a pain trying to organize paint colors from America but I'm sure it will work out.
Bit of an update to my "travel" tread. Work is moving along and the garage is done for now.
Looks like a bit of a war zone. Wall/ garage crew are packing up.
Looks like we will have to paint the garage we were hoping to leave it unfinished but it looks pretty rough.
At least i won't have to clean the window.
New windows going in the back of the house.
Plumbing under way.
We had to ask them to remove two courses of brick from these tanks because they tops would have been above the sidewalk.
Here looks like there all closed in. I'm at the mercy of sister in laws pictures.
Ok I take it all back I found another picture.

Certainly looking good. I don't know why you would want to paint the garage cement render would have to be the most popular colour in Thailand.
The place certainly looks different it would be interesting to see some before and after photos if you have an old one taken from outside the boundary.
It shows up the difference between how Thai's are prepared to live (messy and untidy) compared to what you have done so far.
If you are going to be doing a lot more building you may want to ask the Mods to move this to the construction forum.
Cheers
Thanks, It's all going to be building pictures from here as we're back home now. I'm not sure how to ask for it to be moved to the building section.
Just finished a video call with the contractor about tile layout. I'm trying not to be super critical about it as we will just be using it for holiday and will eventually build a new place but I do tile for a living and it will bother me. Hopefully I forget over time.
The house crew has been steadily working away. Looks like most of the tile work is done, minus a small hickup with the bathroom shower wall placement. Nothing a few thousand baht can't fix though so no real big deal.
Here is the small bathroom ready for painting.
The main floor tile looks a bit boring in these pictures but there is a cool pattern on them. Anyway it's better than the old brown tile.
It definitely brighten the place up.
Front porch makeover underway. Glad I don't have to cut around all those wood poles.
The main bathroom tile progress.
Here there trying to convince us the wall doesn't need to be moved over.
Nap any problems with the build or is all cool?
It's all going surprisingly well since where basically managing it from home back in Maryland. Luckily the in laws live close bye and are willing to go down to the house multiple times per day and our contractor it very nice and accommodating. There have been a few hiccups but it's understandable because we couldn't go over every detail on our last trip over. The contractor is happy enough to change things if we ask.
The small bathroom is almost done. Just need the toilet and vanity installed. New door also the old one was plastic and quite short.
We wanted to brighten it up as it was so dark in there before.

The contractor says it was bad that you could see straight into the bedrooms from the kitchen. So there going to build a partition wall out of teak and also wrap this beam. I'm curious to see how it turns out.
I'm sometimes glad we're not there everyday I would be nervous about that hammer on our new tile with no protection.
We asked the contractor to move the shower wall over as it would have been way to tight with the vanity here in the main bathroom. The shower is still 40" wide so I think it will be fine.
You can see where the lady is standing on the old wall location.
New wall going up.
Vanity looks ready for tile. The top will be granite from that local fabricator.
Looks like the front porch is finished. I hear they already fixed the upside down tile on the first step Ha.

Like the build so far. I agree that you had to move the shower wall over as it would have been a tight squeese to get between the end of it and the vanity to get to the shitter.
I am not a small bloke and our shower is 900mm x 900mm so if yours is 40" it will be more than big enough.
As for thr upside down tile, I think I would have left it there as "feature".
Keep posting.
Ha yeah that could have been a nice conversation starter. I'm sure there may be a few that will come to light once we arrive back. So far everything looks OK in the pictures.
Pretty tight working in the vanity.
We ask them to make the door a bit bigger. They should have done the inside after.
The wood partition walls is cumming along.
It looks a bit like a fence. Hopefully it will be finished on both sides.
I'm glad to see our tree's are doing well. Thankfully it's been raining every day.
Beautiful touch. Ur builder has some good ideas.
