Nice one CMN, looks like you found a good place. Looks like both you and I will be starting threads on renovation of houses soon. Still I,ll be OK on the gardening side, whereas you will have to start learning.

around 400k baht. seems like a steal to me.
It is considering you earn that much per day SBF!

you earn that much an hour don't you Meemers.
see the 'what pissed you off today' thread and you will know thats not anywhere near reality......
still its making me think about going back to sea and living in thailand during my leave. i personally feel a bit envious of buadhai sitting on his porch drinking 20 baht beers.
And well you should, especially knowing that I'd enjoy having someone like you with whom to share the cheap beer....Originally Posted by slimboyfat
This big. About 5 to 6 meters wide and 8 to 10 meters deep.
I think you just need to show up at BH's place.
Nice find Nooner. The basic house looks OK, but what kind of roof and front railing is that? I'd also stay in the house and then plan on what to do, build new or renovate. Hope you are happy there. Does it have a wall enclosure?
Is the pickup/ute for sale?

it probably will be.
the guy selling the house is going into the monastary for a few years.
can't see him needing it in there.

Looks great project for you something I would love to do
I would keep it and incorporate it into your over all design for a house At the moment its not very pretty but with a bit of imagination could look rally cool . Dont forget it cost money to build and will cost you to take down aswell not a sensible idea .
If its functional and practical, --who cares about looks out there in the sticks? A comfortable home is far more important than something that looks nice for others.
Of course there is always room for improvement and I guess one needs to balance that off with the cost of renovation against a complete re-build.
Appearance and resale value comes into the equation depending on how long you intend to be there.
The old house has an outside bog, you will soon get fed up with that.
The wood will provide the roof timbers and interior panelling and reduce the cost of a new house.
I would keep it but turn it into the main living room, then have walkways going to elevated bedrooms and bathrooms and that sort of thing, first things you need though are a proper bathroom and an inside kitchen, I assume you haven't resorted to eating insects so the inside kitchen is a must.
Yah.. IF it's tall enough; My mum in law lives in something very similar, and the downstairs area is like an obstacle course. The ceiling is too low, there's a pillar in the middle.. Plus there's positioning, it may not be in the best spot to optimize use of that 260 sq wah.Originally Posted by dirtydog
So if it's anything like that then I'd knock it down in a second and build something temporary with the wood which CAN however be lived in, and make sure it can be extended into a decent home.
Unless it's less than 4 foot it won't be a problem for NoonersOriginally Posted by WhiteLotusLane
An upstairs dunney with a sit down petistal would cost very little as an add on. Perhaps wouldnt look too good for resale value, but would certainly make life more comfortable, -- especially in the wet season.
Houses are for living in, not for lookng at. If it suits your purposes then keep it. Depends how much you want to spend.
