I read a lot of the other treads here, and they use lots of time and hundreds of pages for planning and still they end up with something different

I havn't seen a drawing of my house yet.
So its better to first build the house and then draw it

In many ways my BIL can do as he likes. He has a good eye for good solutions.
He ask if its OK when he find some solutions, and normally we say yes at it sounds as a good idea. He aske if it was OK that he made a wooden roof in the bathrooms, and I think that was a good idea. One SIL visited the place yesterday, and told us it looked very nice.

He is building the 2 bathrooms with assist from FIL, and the housebuilder company the rest. They are still finishing the roof, but as long as they do a good work I'm happy.

I just hope I can get some new pictures soon

Looks great so far 6con. How is the water for swimming and or boating? A pier for boat or fishing or swimming possible in that area. Nice choice of house material. I can picture a pier with a sala at the end made of like materials if possible. A nice sundowner spot you have there indeed. Good luck with your build. I trust it will meet your needs.

Yes its ok water, but not deep. You have to walk some meters to get it deep enough for swimming. I think we'll invest in a longtailboat to get out fishing, swimming etc.
A pier and a sala is on plan, but first we'll finish the house.

I hope to get some more pictures next week. I was told that roof was now finished and they have started on the walls.

Internet is not the strongest point in the family
About 2 years since I found a decent way to get internet there that worked most of the places with this phone. I never paid more than the 990bath for phone and internet was included.

Before that I had to walk around to get a signal just for sending and recieving sms,

BIL told us that they had started on the walls now

BIL had finished the roof inside the bathrooms, but he wasn't satisfied with the result on one of the bathroom so he had taken it down to redo it so it would look as well as the other bathroom.

    Last update...

This is translated via a lot of people so I don't know the real situation

Its Me-- Wife--MIL--BIL so sth might get lost in the translation

But the outer walls should know be in place. BIL is now going to help the workers on the installation of the windows to speed the build process up. He want it to be finished faster.
Hopefully I'll get some new pictures next weekend, as one of my nieces might travel by. She knows how to use facebook

Lot to be said with that, funny as it is. Ours is going along pretty spot on with the exception of the added Laundry room underneath.

I love the Teakwood style of your build. I always wanted a house like that. Teak is quite pricey which is why we salavaged what we could off ours. I remember this one area on Koh Chang back up on a side road we traveled on just searching around we came across a stunning Teakwood home. I cant find the picture but it was really something else.

    Nice work on your build.

Love the house, can't wait to see the updated pictures. I really like the more traditional feel it has too.

    JPPR2: thanks

BIL told us he thinks its about 80% finished now.
But as allways its the last % that takes time
He said it looks very nice so far., and if he think its nice I trust him that I also will like it BIL loves wodden houses, and I also like wooden houses. Wooden houses are expensive, but when choosing a smaller house adding toilets etc in concrete its not that much more expensive than a concrete building.
But I can see that prices on materials are much higher now than some years ago when you could get a real nice house in concrete for less than 1 million baht. Now its hard to build a small one for that price.
For a house at the sea you pay more for land than the house itself.

Yeah, things have changed immensely over the last 3-4 years. To buy a nice house in a clean new Mooban back in 2009 when I was just burning time after work and on weekends looking, you could grab up a nice little Townhouse for 879 to 1.1 mil baht. Now same area 1.8- 2.3. Over double increase. Of course this is just outside Bangkok so everything is soaring. When I looked at prices down in Cha Am they were all 3 mil baht and up and some were not all that nice.

Now here in 2014 they all seem to be 2-4 mil baht for a 150 to 200 sq meter home. Of course location, labor and material availability have a huge impact on build price.

But in the end $100K for a nice home is still way better than what people give up to live here and more over its paid for and comes with a property tax bill that almost costs more to generate the paper to tell you that its due.

Deris: thanks. I think I'm waiting even more for the updated pictures than you.

JPPR2: Yes the costs of having a house in western world are much higher than the cost there, The cost for electrisity, water etc is relative cheaper in Thailand. Its also much easier to build something in Thailand, you don't need to document every standard and have it approved. I fixed up my bathroom here, and it did cost me over 900k bath and that was not a fancy one. I had a water leakage outside my house, and it cost me over 350k bath as insurance paid half.

FIL told us it was starting to be a sandy beach in front of the seawall now. Sounds nice, but I guess it could disappear again Easy come easy go......

I'm starting to get some new pictures now

The private bathroom has gotten some tiles on the walls and wooden roof. I think the colours of the tiles is ok.

Here is a picture from outside. They have mounted the sliding doors for the entrance. I'm not shure if white panel is the best for the outside of the bathroom, but have to wait to see the whole before thinking of changing it.

Hi 6kon. What kind of wood do you have on the bathroom ceilings, and is it the same in the other rooms (and walls)?

I think the wood in the bathroom is some wood BIL has got from another place I did't ask him where he got it......
I think much of the wood used in the kitchen is also from same place as the bathrooms celings as he is responsible for that part of the building and the building company the rest.

Stunning wood work 6kon. I really like it. My BIL's sister has a house with wood work like that. I always enjoy dropping by too just look at it.

    Cheers
