House or a hovel for a Sukhumvit neighborhood?

In my first posting (“In Thailand A Man Needs Three Things” in Teakdoor Lounge) I described my return to Thailand and my wish to build a house of my dreams on a small property we found in Bangkok. My wife nixed the 13 mil baht post modern idea that I first came up with.

Then last week I showed how a very different house appeared in my wife’s dream, (“Dream house actually seen in a dream”) . But as you can see in the next video snippet, what we found when we chased the dream was by what many might think was a hovel, not a house. The good news was it cost less than a half million. Click on the following to see what happened. Plese leave this in the constuction forum, construction details will be the subject from now on)

wooden houses are good, but in a city environment, how do you keep out the noise and dust?

and can you properly insulate so you can use aircon efficiently?

The above vid. is from 2005 so with patience I think answers to heat noise dust and other questions will come if JS posts all the remaining video's in this house story, anyway it's a done deal and the house is built and lived in, with a very little search effort there is a photo here from 2007 of just the roof so the house gets built and JS probably lives there today.

Problem is everyone around you builds up, so you end up living in a dark tunnel.
