Did anyone else think this was going to be a thread about Rural Surin being spotted just SW of Ratanaburi?

Yes, at an elevation of about 16 degrees and 15 minutes, in the western sky just after sunset, between Venus and Aldebaran.

    Thanks Looper,

The reason I raised the land the way I did is because when I first came to this area they had a really bad rainy season and this whole area was under 4 feet of water. We did not want to be in the middle of the village and I need elbow room. Dirt is cheap and the retaining wall was a product of something I have always wanted to do living next to a river and a lake in the Chain O' Lakes area (Chi will get this).

Ahh, bending steel by hand. Not fun but necessary. Bending all the bits for the footing cages. After several failures on my part I actually got good at this too. Luckily concrete hides mistakes well.

You always get the local drunk who comes over and has to give you "The way it should be done" I would just look at Yem and ignore the rest.

I am not one for formalities, this is Great Great Granny saying her prayer or final inspection before the corner stone gets put in. This day was for their culture, my day was wasted so me and Granny X 3 got liquored up at 6 in the morning

You all have seen this before so I will spare the pics, you will notice my dog is in many of the pictures. This one will be hard to replace when he's gone. Nothing goes unnoticed by him and is very protective.

Most of the men you see working are family, being in a farming community we pull together. These guys were paid and fed well during the projects. But even today I can bang on the coconut and everyone will come and help. This goes the other way around as well. I have also helped all of them on their projects as well as their fields. We fish together, drink together and fight together. We have all pulled together and put a roof on a village house lost in a storm on more than one occasion. Children are corrected by all.

This is the alluring part of my existence to this community. I am also a country boy at heart.

This is the basic setup with the piles, where and when the rebar can be welded to the baket from the pile it is done. The columns are interconnected to the basket and the load is centered on the pile.

This looks like a runny mix, it is not. After the pour and time to set up, water is added to the top to permeate the surrounding soil so it can cure slow
