    Android Market: A fucking disaster

The famous Android Market for Android devices is a fucking disaster. It makes Steve Jobs iTunes store almost a better alternative. That's quite an horrible statement to make, but it's the truth.

I bought a Viewsonic iPad 10s with Android and it's great, looks really cool (better than the iPad in my gay opinion), was very cheap (8k) and I like the slick UI, much better than the iOS boring interface found on the iPhone and iPad.

It came with Android 2.2 which is fine, can be upgraded to Android 3.0 but I won't for now, and don't plan to root it since I only need to use a few apps on it and have no time for that kind of teenage shit.

However to my big surprise, was the official Google download app manager. It didn't have any, and apparently to download all those Android app from the official Google website, your device needs to be registered by the manufacturer on Google, and pay a license for it, which means for cheap device like mine, it wasn't registered as an Android device and the Market app wasn't installed.

Instead the manufacturer put some kind of "alternative market" app, with 90% of the good business apps missing, so useless and not usable. Further, this alternative market app could be a hotbed for trojan and all kind of shit, so I didn't bother with it.

So I am stuck, what to do ? need to find the "Market app" somewhere and then "hack" the silly gtab to believe it's registered on Google Android Market.

    What a fucking disaster.

So there's nothing wrong with the Android Marketplace- there's a problem associated with your cheap tablet...

While this may be of no help to you, you can search how Android was ported for the HP Touch Pad (which is my cheap tablet)- while I haven't done it yet, I believe there's a way to download the Google app for their marketplace- you can probably use it as well for whatever device you have.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

after googling for some answers, the "manipulation sequence" to have your tablet accept "Market app" is quite tedious, with no guarantee it will work. There are hundreds of pages on the subject on all Android forums.

At least I don't have to deal with another tedious task, the upgrade of the OS or worse, installing "custom" ROMs

even if it works, it's possible that you only get only a few apps available on Market app, the rest being "blocked" because the device is NOT "licensed" to all those apps, even if they are free.

That's probably your only solution- it's a pain-in-the-ass to get it done right (and bricking your device is very unlikely unless you're a complete 'tard... hmmm... be careful, BF), but it will work if you can read and follow directions (the 'reading' part is very important- read it all before you begin if you're actually going to give it a shot).

If you're gonna buy a cheap tablet, you'd better be ready to work on it to make it perform properly, otherwise you should have picked up an Asus Transformer or something.

ok, I think I solved it without rooting it, took me 2 hours

after reading hundreds of useless posts by Android tards who have no more clue that the computer tards we have here on TD, I finally was able to "hack" it without "rooting"

despite conflicting reports and posts, and multiple tangents how to fix things, I was able to find the solution which was very simple and took only 3 instructions to perform,

despite all the recommendations by teenagers going the "hard" route and doing all kind of unnecessary things to accomplish exactly the same thing

it's sad to see that after all, Android gurus are as clueless as itard gurus, but when dealing with teenagers, what else could you expect, they are kids

    here are the instructions:

    - OPTIONAL: first download some "root FS explorer", not "root" for "hacking", they are usually downloadable in PKG format, no need for a vendor portal. The Root Explorer is only needed if your tablet vendor has a very limited "apps" universe or restricted license, and to modify some "system" config files for device identification

    - Some guys have distributed version of all the missing "apps", I only needed the "Vendor.pkg", "FirstTime Initializer" and "GoogleServices Framework" to run the better version of "Gmail" on the gtab

    - IMPORTANT: make sure to have "Run Unknown Application" option enabled, "Background Sync and Auto Sync" enabled

    - Install the package from your SD card, very easy, double click the "pkg" files

    - Now the "Market" icon is installed, double click and follow the instructions of the first time installer by using your gmail account

    - Et Voila !!!

It seems that Viewsonic were "licensed" now on the Android market so I got to see all the apps

If your device is not, you need to modify a file in "/system" using the "root fs explorer" and change the device name to "fool" the Android Marketplace

using "sudo" or "mount rw" needs to be performed first,

That would be the next "hacking" project, trying to do that without "rooting" it

    ^ you sound jealous ?

anyway, it's a great little device, very fast, but the live background make the battery go down quite quickly, less than 5 hours

got VLC media, WinAmp etc... so can do all the things most retards can do on their useless PC

will try streaming video next, or receiving streaming of video from existing server, should be interesting

WIFI signal is weak though, I suspect an iPhone 4 case of holding it wrong

Streaming video (especially HD) will knock your battery life down a couple hours at least.

Opera is probably the most Android-friendly browser, and 'Free Music Search' is a great app to search for individual songs (though not entire albums).
