Steve Jobs vowed to 'destroy' Android

Steve Jobs said he wanted to destroy Android and would spend all of Apple's money and his dying breath if that is what it took to do so.

The full extent of his animosity towards Google's mobile operating system is revealed in a forthcoming authorised biography.

Mr Jobs told author Walter Isaacson that he viewed Android's similarity to iOS as "grand theft".

Apple is suing several smartphone makers which use the Android software.

According to extracts of Mr Isaacson's book, obtained by the Associated Press, Mr Jobs said: "I'm going to destroy Android, because it's a stolen product. I'm willing to go thermonuclear war on this."

He is also quoted as saying: "I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong."

A guy doesn't become CEO of the worlds No 1 company without having a view to his competition and his compay's intellectual property, regardless of whether it is justified. Is this really so surprising?

No, and of course the author could well be embellishing what he actually said. It's not as if he's going to argue, is it?

I tried discussing this on macforums, but one tosser said "Linux was stolen from Unix, and Google stole Android from Linux".

He had a brain fart when I told him parts of iOS are from BSD.

Harry......Do you have any idea what you just said. Linex was stolen from Unex, google stole Android from Linex IOS is from BSD. This is why so many of us just use a MAC.

The iPhone 4s which launched with a flourish has hit a glitch in Scotland at least.
Created in California, the phone has a much-heralded voice command technology which seems to have had a bit of trouble crossing the Atlantic.
The voice recognition software has problems translating Scottish accents.

Dr. Who got rid of the Darlics years ago. He would have no problem with those Android yobs. God I love these tech threads!
