We’ve been hearing whispers of a new Samsung Galaxy S II for weeks now, pretty much since the sexy super-smartphone was released.
Some reckon it’ll be a moderately improved Samsung Galaxy S II “Plus”, while others are touting a balls-out all-new successor.
The Pop Herald is the latest to get in on the S II rumour action, citing “a bunch of e-mails from credible sources living in Asia”. Love the phrasing, guys.
The latest rumours largely reckon we’ll see a Samsung Galaxy S II “Plus”, given that the specs won’t be dramatically different from the original Samsung Galaxy S II. Hell, it has a 4.3in display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 8MP camera. What more could you want?
Well, according to the sources, a 1.4GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and Android 2.3.4 featuring Google Talk with video support.
One source in particular suggested that Samsung might even drop the Galaxy branding. Hmm.
These rumours generally concur that Samsung’s motivation is, of course, the imminent launch of the iPhone 5, though it’s expected to be a modest upgrade from the iPhone 4.
Eldar Murtazin recently claimed that not only would Samsung release a Galaxy S III in autumn, but that the manufacturer would pump out a spanking new high-spec smartphone every six months to compete with the latest iPhone.
Salt, anyone?
