error on xd card

Not sure if this is for here or multi media. Camera xd card has an error and none of the pics can be viewed or accessed. Worse the card does not show up on the pc and gives error message in the camera. This being the case software would be no use and the card is probably damaged somehow.
The pics are not worth spending a fortune on a recovery service, but does anyone know of anywhere in Bangkok?
