My e:mail account has been a facebook invite repository for a while now.
I've finally relented and signed up. I need to know about these social networking technologies for a new job. So I've got a home page.
What do I do now?

Post all your personal details on it and hope nobody here finds it

That's what I was thinking, seems to be a complete waste of internet server space that only has the power to destroy.
start poking everyone and turn into a vampire.

Ya what?
facebook stuff.
Waste of time. Loss of privacy if you are dumb enough to post any personal information. Sucks.
Who are all these people I don't know?
And why do they want to be my friends?

Oh wait, you can't do that.....
Make sure your privacy settings are set to friends only. By default they are open to everybody.

Good advice.
Done.
I dont bother with FB, sorry.
not willy, but if she is cute, I add her. You can create lists and either include or exclude people based on what list they are on. So if you only want people you really know, you can restrict info to only those.
If you find she is nuts, you can unfriend her and block her.
That will be Mrs Quirrel, he will ask for photos of your knob and post them all over the net.Originally Posted by Plan B

True, which is why I have to learn. Definately lacking in that area.
Facebook & Twitter, 2 things I've been avoiding like the plague. Today I conquer facebook, tomorrow Twitter.
Look out for the 'Joined Twitter, what do I do now thread?'
Can't wait.
Twitter is more useful imo. My sons school uses it to broadcast announcements that come through as texts to all the parents, also seen it used with webcasts and proper conferences to take questions.
Ha ha. C'mon Daffey, here's your new avatar
