    Air cards

    How do they work ?

Enquired at a shop here and got some basic info, seems it can operate from anywhere on a sim card....no landline connection needed and can work on any telecom company.

Various prices for prepaid topup cards, but seemed expensive at around 60b an hour.

I've one with AIS. The advantage is it works everywhere you have a mobile phone network. The inconvenient is outside Bangkok it's very slow.

I don't remember the price but I don't think it's so expensive. When in Thailand I use it a lot (4-5 hours a day) and I don't spend that much on top up.
The things we regret most is the things we didn't do

Have fun paying hourly rates - I use unlimited for one flat fee.

Plus, if you know what you're doing, you can use your phone to tether to your computer, and provide the same, without additional hardware.

    Maybe if you ask nicely.

I have a CAT Telecom account. Doesn't use the air card but a very small USB CDMA plugin modem which I use on my desktop and notebook. Paid 7,000 baht for the modem. Monthly charge 800 baht.

No land line needed. Reliability good. Speed 3.1 mbps. Not a speed demon but works fine for Skype, email and normal web browsing. A bit too slow for big downloads such as movies.

Averages around 410kbps download and 190kbps upload.
    Edited to reflect "in Thailand".
