    Google not finding website

I've recently created a website using Google Sites for my local pre-school group. The site looks fine and has been around for a week now but it doesn't seem to show up in google searches. I've submitted the url and a sitemap to google but still don't seem to get any results. The URL is http://sites.google.com/site/bradwellpreschool/
and the title on the main page is Bradwell Pre School. I'm not expecting to be top of the list for searches on School but I was hoping a search for Bradwell Pre School would show it on the first page of results (it isn't the one in Milton Keynes by the way, which gets a good showing in the results). I know links from other sites will help it in the rankings but it is never going to have a lot of relevant links. Any ideas anyone?

^ It's started working, perhaps I was too impatient. One of the problems is the use of Pre School, Preschool, and Pre-school which seem to be used interchangably.

It's never going to have a lot of hits, only 20 students and it is aimed at keeping the parents informed about event dates etc. It isn't likely to have more than 10 hits a week. It's not going to get lots of links either.

It is remarkably easy to set up though, all free of charge and uses google calendar, picassa web album, google doc if you want. Can add any google gadgets (there's 1000s) and can subscribe to updates via email, haven't seen RSS feeds though. It only took around an hour to set up, followed by the inevitable tweaking of spelling mistakes etc.

Interesting, I just realised I was ticking the Pages from the UK radio button. I get much better results defaulting to the web. I guess there is nothing about the site name to indicate it is the uk. It might be worth buying a domain name and mapping it, google offers support for this as well.

I would concentrate on your content first, nowhere on your site could I find where you are, your contact details or a telephone number. If its there it certainly isn't easy to find. Being powered by Google Sites isn't always a good thing, as in your case for example you are concentrating on the gadgets and freebies rather than providing the user with good basic content. I'm sorry if my comments seem a bit harsh but they are meant to be.

^ No problems, in mitigation, it was knocked up as a demo in a couple of hours, I'm still waiting for proper content from them, contact details need to be discussed as the previous person in charge left a couple of weeks ago and the group don't have their own dedicated phone number. They will now have their own dedicated email if they adopt the site of preschool.bradwell[at]googlemail.com.

There are only 5 pages to the site at the moment, there is a link in the sidebar labelled sessions with the address in it, should probably rename it Contact Details though. The address is also in the page called History. You might not think Memorial Hall, Netherside is an address but it is around here so is next door to Tomkins or the Wilsons old house, imagine you are in an Issan Village.

The site isn't aimed at attracting customers, this is a village of 2,000 and everyone knows where the nursery group is. It is aimed at replacing/supplementing the monthly newsletter distributed to parents, especially me, who always loses the letter and never knows the term dates, events, etc. The slideshow is a bonus.

I don't intend to be maintaining the site myself, it's just to get them started, hopefully it is so easy that they will maintain it themselves. The big concern was to make it easy to find when people searched for it specifically.
