    Checking your ISP's ports

I heard that the ISPs in Thailand like to block or throttle ports to save on bandwidth. Is there anyway I can find out which ports are restricted (with MaxNet) so I can tell uTorrent to use an unrestricted one?

A nice little utility would be splendid.

Waste of time as far as I can tell.
TOT seems to open and close ports all the time.
I have to check every hour if my allocated port is still open

I use a program called 'NetInfo' for doing port scanning to see what services are available and what ports are blocked on an IP address... It's free download from the net and does a pretty good job...

I also noticed that I can't DL Top Gear either from my account at UK Nova or from Pirate Bay.

Other files are DLing OK, but TG & another popular programme will not even start.

    WTF?

^ Thanks, but the point is that I shouldn't have to. There's loads of seeders for these downloads and they're on private trackers already.

I have just forwarded my ports using Maxnet's nameservers. Maybe I should try opendns instead?

Also, I have forwarded that 1194 port, but it's still blocked. I'll try the other ports or just turn the fucking modem's firewall off completely.

Well, the port checker with uTorrent says my port is still closed. I have disabled the router's firewall and XP's. I am using OpenDNS's nameservers and have the port forwarded.

What a crock of shit this all is. Saying that, my dns lookup is much quicker.

Yes. I have now, but if the port is forwarded, it shouldn't be necessary, right?

    Correct
Also if UPnP is enabled then you don't have to forward the port so it's a belt a braces suggestion.

    Shit!

I just hit a random port number which took it away from the forwarded port and used the PnP feature.

Gone from 20kb/s to over 500 and Top Gear has started. Fekkin' computers...

Make sure you have encryption turned on. That's always solved it for me.
