identify hardware to find drivers

Hi guys,


Just re-installed XP on wife's laptop, but received a blank stare when I asked for the drivers CD. Now, the thing wont connect online, and the 'system' tab in the 'panel control' cant tell me what devices are installed inside. I get this :



I'd like to download the drivers from my own computer, but I just dont know what drivers to look for... How can I find out what devices are installed ?

Search the make and model number online. That should show you what hardware is inside. Assuming it has the original hardware still?

For example this company laptop here is a Dell Latitude D610.

Or go to the makers website, and search the model. Most makers have packs of drivers to download on their site.

I had a similar problem, downloaded via torrent driver update program (h33t - Uniblue DriverScanner 2010 2.2.0.0+Serial -[HB] - torrent
It will search computer and update all drivers

Everest first to find out the ethernet driver,

And then try this:

and especially this page with a utility to scan your computer and find your hardware and the appropriate driver.

Indeed Wallalai, quite useful links I used them before for my own computer. I'd almost green you for that, for a change Just cant use them now since I would have to first be able to connect the laptop...

very easy actually download a progamme called driver robot 5.14 mg from
Driver Robot: Guaranteed automatic driver updates.
run the progamme with the internet disconected.
it will try to go online when it has found the drivers as cant get online it will offer to save the file for you, so save it to a flash drive.
remove flash drive and procede to a pc that has internet on it open file, it will automatically let you download these drivers save them to the flash drive.
go back to other pc open add remove progammes and remove driver robot from system first.insert flash disk and run files and update your drivers.

Please mod, don't delete the links and the quote even if it's in french, SunTzu speak french and he can use it.

But, the rest of us can't read French, and therefore cannot moderate it. I think a fair solution would be to let the links stand, but you either rewrite the text in English (so we can all benefit) or it will have to be removed.

UPS uses sat nav tracker chips on their rigs to tell where their drivers are at any time and where your packages are and when they will be delivered.
They always send you a link to sign in and check..

The link I posted is only available in french and I posted it coz Shi[at]tzu speaks french. It was only intended to help him solve his drivers problem. I get fired for posting a french link, up to you.

But the constant bashing from the french LB lover and others (who I suppose never used a Mac more than 20 min in a shop) on every Mac related thread is very tiresome. Polluting Mac threads is allowed here for an unknown reason. Are you against people who use anything else than a Microsoft OS ? How old are you ?

And my wifes new PC has Windows 7 in it and she loves it and seeing as it was stolen today while I napped, I will have to buy her a new PC and will be able to install the windows 7 and the key that I have already paid for,, now I think that is mighty white of MS, don't you?

I have nothing against any people using a Mac, MS or GNU/Linux OS.

I only don't understand why anybody using a Mac OS should be called a tard and it is allowed to spam the word by some forum members on this forum. Apple haters should launch a thread and let others alone.
