Who's Scanning Your Ports?

I was having a look at my netstats when a strange one from Japan turned up, now I can't remember the last time I visited a bukake site and they are the only Japanese sites I've ever visited, anyway here's a screen shot, the first few are teakdoor, another is to a German server I'm connected to, and then the Jap one at the bottom.



So of course being the curious type I googled variations of "marunouchi.tokyo.ocn.ne.jp:42455" seems that it is an American military owned server in Japan famed for DDOS attacks to more advanced stuff, should I keep an eye out for black helicopters

DD: How can you discover whose scanning you?

Normally use a port scanner, but this will tell you who you are connecting to.

This is also how you start up netstat.Click "Start" then click "Run".



Now a new window has opened, type in "cmd" and click "OK".



In your nice shiny black command prompt window type in "netstat" and hit "Enter".

It will list all connections etc.

how do you get rid of it?

^^Firewall is the easiest, nextgentel is a server in Norway, maybe your being served ads or something from there on a page you are looking at.

I wouldn't worry about about it DD, probably an NSA attempt at monitoring the entire internet like COINTELPRO or TIA did (does?) in the US.

Just saw that old movie "Snowman and Falcon" the other day on UBC, you know where this is coming from all those guy's called Snowman are covert ops, next time he dumps trash in front of your house check it for hidden surveillance equipment

netstat will not tell you who is scanning your ports

it will tell you about connections your computer has made to other servers and the port and protocol used and also it will tell you ports it is listening at while waiting for a connection.

some one scanning ports ( looking for open or listening ports ) from the internet will be seeing only your router/modem not your computer(s) behind them on your network. ( except in the case of some listening ports as they can be directly tied from the routers WAN to your computers stack via uPnP )

Definitely a strange one, shall look into it a bit more tomorrow,

a DDOS controller has an established connection to your computer ?

Download and install a program called wireshark if you want to see all the connections and traffic being passed to and from your PC. I'm still trying to understand all that is made available.
